Finally, congratulations to all travel & poster award winners! The best part of #CPC2026 was seeing trainees & fellow early career scientists share their work with such creativity & rigor. Gives me so much hope for the future of this field 🧠📊 /fin (and now off to catch up on 5 days of sleep!)
I'm incredibly lucky to work with this brilliant, generous, hardworking group. So so so proud of the whole lab and everything they brought to #CPC2026 - from organizing, to volunteering, to presenting, to learning, and to building community 💙
Plus some amazing posters with recent discoveries from @leilyb.bsky.social @francesghart.bsky.social @sharinahamm.bsky.social & Gwon Lee 🤩 (posters all too popular for me to get close enough for good photos!)
And of course, I had so many proud mentor moments 🥹 @adanyajohnson.bsky.social gave an *incredible* talk in a symposium she organized (!) and Gaeun (Gwon) Lee shared her senior thesis work in an amazing flash talk/poster spotlight.
On the same theme, we organized a mentor/mentee event with 150+ mentors and mentees from around the world & across interdisciplinary fields! Loved watching so many new conversations + connections form across career stages 🌱
First, @adanyajohnson.bsky.social & @cehaeffner.bsky.social organized the first-ever trainee pre-conference at CPC! So proud of them for this amazing day full of leaning and community building (and so fun to be on the Growing Up in Science panel w @robbrutledge.bsky.social @philcorlett.bsky.social)
What a week! #CPC2026 was amazing, and it was such a joy to co-organize & host it here at Yale with @robbrutledge.bsky.social @xiaosigu.bsky.social @yiplab.bsky.social @francesghart.bsky.social & Al Powers & Katie Myerscough (our MVP!) Some highlights... 🧵
🚨 New paper out in Current Directions in Psychological Science, with @matnoc.bsky.social! We review recent advances in digital & computational methods for understanding, predicting, and preventing suicide.
I also simply must share this clip from our first dance (practicing this in our living room every night was the best part of wedding planning) 💛✨ if you know me, you know that of COURSE i’d use the first dance to live out all my pairs figure skating dreams!!
In some personal news...I got married last weekend to my best friend & love of my life! It was truly the most magical weekend filled with endless love, laughter, joy, and happy tears 🥹💛
In personal news: t-1 month until we get married! Looking back on some favorites from our engagement photos last year 💛
Almost exactly one year after starting my lab (!), I'm thrilled to share our first preprint! 🥳 @leilyb.bsky.social @sharinahamm.bsky.social @francesghart.bsky.social We propose future directions for mathematical, computational, & digital methods to advance suicide research: osf.io/preprints/ps...
The CCS lab is en route to #APS2025! Come check out our exciting research tomorrow and Sunday 🤩 @francesghart.bsky.social @sharinahamm.bsky.social
Thanks to @emmalaurent.bsky.social, Srijani Saha, and all the other organizers for putting such an amazing conference together!!
Finally, it was SO fun and heartwarming to reconnect & hear amazing work from grad school friends incl @hayleydorfman.bsky.social @shariliu.bsky.social & more 💛
I also had a blast giving a keynote -- with so many new & exciting ideas from chatting with folks afterwards!
Most importantly my heart was BURSTING with pride to see @sharinahamm.bsky.social & Leily Behbehani give their first talks!!!! Seeing your students succeed is the most special & pure form of joy 🥹🥹
Last weekend my lab attended our first conference together @harvardwipsych.bsky.social! It was an *incredible* way to wrap up our first year 😍 @sharinahamm.bsky.social @francesghart.bsky.social
"Your application has moved to the next stage" is a crazy way to send a rejection email 😂
and even MORE excited to get this snazzy mug from our white elephant gift exchange! ty @sharinahamm.bsky.social
First annual CCS Lab holiday party! And a wrap on our first semester :) So grateful to work with this amazing crew! @francesghart.bsky.social @sharinahamm.bsky.social
The goal of our research is to capture and model the complex dynamics of psychopathology, with a specific focus on suicide, NSSI, and eating disorders. To do so, we collect intensive longitudinal data (with smartphones & wearables) and build mathematical & computational models.
This complex interaction of external factors and internal processes gives rise to a person's *experience* over time, including experiences of mental health and illness. Thus, we study the emergence & persistence of psychopathology from an idiographic (personalized) perspective.
New year, new lab, new website! I'm so excited to open the Computational Clinical Science Lab at Yale this summer, and to share my new lab website: ccslab.yale.edu Huge thanks to Beyond Bounds Creative for the brilliant illustrations of my lab's core research directions!
Can't believe ABCT is next week! I'm excited to be part of the presidential panel with @jschleiderphd.bsky.social, Riana Elyse Anderson, Maggi Price, Miya Barnett, & Rob Morris. Thanks so much to @drehrenreich.bsky.social for organizing this new format to the traditional Presidential Address!
And some startup plots! (note: I cleaned these data SUPER quickly while semi-delirious from the covid booster, so there are probably some errors...but interesting patterns nonetheless)
Making slides for this talk and decided to visualize some data (from the awesome data collection effort led by @tabachnickar.bsky.social) bc information is power! Interesting patterns that show pretty huge variability in salary & startups -- some salary plots:
Enrolling in healthcare at MGH and of course this is one of their security questions 🫠
