#BookSky. Imagine seeing your work on display with the great Mike Davis and the wvery-bit-as-great Rebecca Solnit, wow. Actually the second time my work's been snapped with hers, different book of mine each time too. It's almost like this writing thing is actually happening.
I don't buy much these days but my 13 y.o asked if i could get Left Hand Path on vinyl for him (no complaints here 😝) so accidentally swagged some other faves too. Coincidentally we did this while my missus was away too, they've just arrived.
Yup.33 degrees today, but we still wear black jeans. Left the leather jacket at home tho! Fuckin love this GoGo's shirt.
Not a drill folks, i made it out the house. Not pictured: ever wondered what sort of dickhead wears black jeans in this heat......? 😱I been bollock nekkid all day mind but i can't come to a lit schmooze in shorts!!!!!
Pics always make me happy. Fantastic writer/artist called Ford Dagenham sent me these just yesterday 😍. And let's not forget when @nancykay-alt-acct.bsky.social sent me a pic of it in Chelsea. That is, Chelsea in Manhattan, NYC. I Don't smile much but i grin corprophagously just thinking about it 😍
L: reading at Disgracelands. R: at a brewery I can't remember the name of. Guy from Gnod was in one of the acts, absolutely fucking batshit, it was. Shows what it's all about that they're primarily musical nights but he has me doing spoken word just cos he likes it (and so do his audience) 🖤
L: first time we met, me n Steve impersonating the world's worst Sleaford Mods tribute act. R: reading that night at the Auxilliary.
From earlier in the set before i had to get my tits out 😝this is an acoustic one off the first Beach Slang album. One of them bands who only had two songs but they are bangers and they rehashed them repeatedly, magnificently. Got stale after album 2 but their early stuff is still absolutely immense.
There are a tiny handful of closest mates who i record impromptu gigs for at home. Loadsa rambling twixt songs, unplanned, unrehearsed, swearing when i get shit wrong, proper unvarnished in the moment stuff. Here's a track from one i did a coupla hours ago for someone. Boss DJ by Sublime
Today's tome, by another writer reffed in Keshed reviews. Only read Hangover Square by him, which i loved. This comes on high rec from @alicejolly.bsky.social and @hannahfearn.bsky.social so anticipating a similar response. #BookSky 📚
Impossible to take a bad photo up there even for a hack like me with a shit phone camera.
Check out the Louise Bourgois spider tree too 😀 Got hit by lightning a few years back and snapped one of the boughs.
Can walk to the pic on the left in 5 mins from here. You know that bit in Keshed where there's the photo of him sitting on his old man's shoulders near a cairn on top of the moor? That's the pic on the right, looking out towards Pendle Hill, Bronte land out of shot left. My happy place.
Reminds me of this pic i THANKFULLY found recently, thinking i'd lost it forever. Me n my old mate Sara, c.2003 😍 Could serve as an imago for most of my early 20s.
Androgynous by the Replacements. Too much sun for me to show off my sweet new Go-Go's shirts but it haa a massive pink 🫦 on it 😍😍 @alinaetc.bsky.social a PW one i can actually *do* (sort of) 🤣 he's a far better vocalist than folk might think, a lot of his stuff is really hard!!!
Dedicating this one to @iammilliam.bsky.social. Words to live by - Tell Em All To Go To Hell 🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕
I had a manic episode in Aug and fucked off to whitby after work cos i wanted to see the sun set over the sea. Was that wired i saw sunrise and sunset without going to bed and stayed away for three days in the end. Impossible to take a bad picture that night, was glorious.
Tremendous. Coupla mine here from last year. Phone cam, i haven't got a real one!
Keshed is full of it. Hehe found a pic on Sunday i adore, no idea who took it, or sent it, early-00s tho, the b/w one. Me n my old mate Sara. She's wearing a cardy me gran made me on the right, i'm wearing her hat. Fuck knows what was going on there but looks like fun
Wish i could do same look at the absolute fucking state of this. This is "rested' after 10 days off, woke up this morn thinking i was late for work FFS. Never mind srifting into the arena of the unwell, i've taken up permanent residency.
Glorious up there today. @richardjamesfoster.bsky.social bit hazy for proper ones and i'm more interesting in walking when i'm out, but took a coupla snaps of the old country for ya today. Not pictured: me, shirtless, sweating my tits off. What a spot, bloody love it, me.
That blue thing on the right is a bottle of 1981 Baron de Sigognac Armagnac, signed by Mark Lanegan (zoom in). I've not had a drink since April 2021 but if that fucking orange cunt triggers the apocalypse, i'm necking it and ilt will be like the heavenly host pissing all over my tongue.
I'm in the studio with the band this weekend but it's not gonna sound like those two 😆 that must've been some gig though, wow
Demob happy Stu getting ready for practice and celebrating 10 days off work with a completely unrehearsed (hence fluffed lyric at the end) blagged on the wing entry in my series of Springsteen songs played as garage rock bangers. Love this tune.
@sardonicus.eu @collettwriter.bsky.social @urbankisses.bsky.social @richardmortimer.bsky.social look what i spied down the ginnel at the side of Headingley Library today. Used to sneak off down there +smoke in front of that wall 10 x a day when i worked there 2010 - 2015 😀
