Here at the Medicaid oversight and advisory board meeting in Frankfort. Staff has just opened the second overflow room. Supporters of the Lee Speciality Clinic have come en masse to fight back against major cuts affecting roughly thousand disabled Kentuckians

That’s the issue is everyone pointing fingers. Legislature definitely made some cuts but really unclear if it amounts to multi million dollar loss for this project and the administration won’t answer my questions trying to understand

Former Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin is going to jail After failing once again to turn over documents in his ongoing divorce turning child support case, Louisville judge orders his arrest to serve 60 days in jail and pay a $500 fine

And should Bevin fails to turn in all these documents (and it's a hefty list from by my estimation) by the end of the week, he will face *checks order* 60 days in jail

Just a reminder, Bevin said he hasn't filed a tax return since 2021 and only provided tax estimates to the plaintiffs. Here's the first thing Jonah's lawyers are asking for:

Just got ahold of the list of documents that Jonah Bevin's lawyer is requiring of the former governor and found this in the preamble I will unfortunately now also be referring to Bevin's emergency that he says kept him from court as "boulder gate"

Reading through some of these comments and they are... unhinged. One commenting that it's "suspicious" he doesn't want a recount (Gallrein won by like 9 points...)

Rep. Massie took to X to say his loss to Ed Gallrein in the primary was not due to fraud. Been seeing a lot of rumor online that the high turnout was bc of fraud, instead of the obvious answer (ppl vote more when there's competitive races and a ton of money involved)

I know we've got a lot of eyes in the sky on our congressional races, but let's not forgot the General Assembly! @joesonka.lpm.org wrote about these two races in northern Ky where liberty-wing challengers are trying to oust GOP incumbents. The incumbents are hanging on for now but it's looking tight

In the Massie/Gallrein race, we've got just 3% of the vote in per AP --- Gallrein leading at the moment, 55-45 We're going to be watching this one as votes trickle in all evening I fear

Interesting combo of polls here from Yale’ Spring ‘26 poll Shows Dem primary voters think Beshear is high in electability for a presidential run (meaning he’d do well in a general against a Republican), but few actually say he’s their preferred candidate if they had to vote today

And this week the secretary of the Louisville Dems (apparently a constituent of JRA) has filed an ethics complaint against her. It basically repeats the Ky Lantern's story

Look at that, in VMAPP this morning we've got 3 bills stuffed together into one. Two have bipartisan support, one does not. Originally HG 569, it allows anyone (random out-of-state businesses, etc) to ask the AG to submit an anonymous request to the Chief Justice to force a judge's recusal

Good god it's day 50 of 60 here in the Ky legislature. After the House sent over the bills they passed yesterday, Sen Prez Stivers said they might have to get to some of those next year. No kidding -- these are all the bills that have passed one House and are waiting for their second vote

The bill also remakes the commission itself to give the GOP auditor some appointment power (as opposed to just the Dem gov) It’s being heard in committee in about 8 min here and I see reps from some of these groups here to speak

This is the definition of "harass" in Senate Bill 104. It becomes a felony on the fourth offense (a significant escalation over Kentucky's current statutes on obstructing officers). Note the “substantial emotional distress” bit

One of the bills discussed, HB4 to ban grooming has already passed committee and could be voted on at any time in the House (it would still need senate approval) (NB the bill has exceptions for healthcare providers, age appropriate sex-ed, etc)
