I popped in to the busy Strawberry Line Cycle Project last week. The team does a great job keeping dozens of bikes and trikes (including some for those with mobility issues) maintained and ready to hire out. Its shop at Yatton Station, just metres from the Strawberry Line, is worth a visit.

It’s bonkers that we need a law to instruct officials to tell the truth, but the families tell us that honesty and transparency would have changed their lives. The Bill isn’t perfect, but it’s here - well past time, but now it’ll be the law.

The SPR will mean that all information about a patient’s health and care will be kept in one record. For #pwME, accommodations to minimise PEM, and address sensitivities, can make all the difference in a hospital visit. The SPR must carry this information to avoid senseless aggravations. Win-win!

Yesterday morning Somerset Councillor Ros Wyke and I met Wales & West Utilities about their proposed closure of the A371 Cheddar to Wells road for the 6 weeks of the summer holiday. We explained the business catastrophes which would unfold with such timing. Great that they have agreed to postpone!

I had great fun at #yattfest this weekend. Lovely to speak to so many people, meeting Mike and Zoe from Avon & Somerset Police; serving cider with Tom and Henry in the Thatchers’ box; and helping the team in the Strawberry Line Café & Community Cycle Hire tent. Congratulations to the organisers!

Like many in the ME community I’m deeply disturbed at the news that DHSC is pausing work on a specialist service for very severe ME until April 2027. It’s been good then to be able to talk with minister Sharon Hodgson, and Carolyn Leary from Forward ME. The very understandable concerns are heard.

On Sunday, I was delighted to join Peter Dixon at his swearing-in ceremony as the new High Sheriff of Somerset.

Marking International Women's Day this weekend with Amnesty International and Oxfam at the Penniless Porch in Wells. I'm proud to stand in solidarity with the many female prisoners across the globe who are held in terrible conditions without access to legal or welfare support.
