I just found out that B has never seen DEAD CALM so I’m going to be rectifying that this week. 🖤
Thank you for everything, Sam Neill. Truly a fearlessly singular performer who gave us fans so much. 🖤
Tomorrow. 35 years. from-the-desk-of-the-horror-chick.ghost.io
I’m rarely on IG because I’m just not cool enough but I saw this today & it made me cry. Always be willing to hold the door open for the new folks & treat them with kindness…
Introducing B to RAD tonight & I got him a fun beer to go with it too (beats all the Natty’s he’s been drinking the last 18 months lol).
Oh wow, yes. That kitty reminds me of my Oz who I had to say goodbye to years ago…but I love a tux-y kitty!
Our other splurge for tonight was making homemade baby back ribs…we got both racks for under $10 each & it’s enough for two nights. B absolutely killed it with the cook on them too!!
I know it's kind of en vogue to crap all over INDEPENDENCE DAY these days but I loved it in 1996 and I still love it 30 years later. Amazing cast! Amazing effects! Sci-fi lore that immediately hooked me! It's '90s popcorn filmmaking at its best. I'm fine being wrong on this one lol
Decided to do a bonus summer movie entry this week, thanks to being inspired by writing about The Lost Boys, a recent rewatch and our current sociopolitical landscape. It will be available to both free & paid subscribers tomorrow. Sign up here: from-the-desk-of-the-horror-chick.ghost.io Cheers!
Yesterday I was doing some research to wrap this piece up and I found this image and it was like two of my worlds colliding…😆
Watching FRIGHT NIGHT this morning while I’m working on coding some eblasts and just thought I’d share this again here because it always makes me happy.
Just found out that ARROW announced their WICKED PRIEST collection (thanks @skinslip.bsky.social!) which B & I worked on! Yay!
While I haven't been recruited by the Star League to defend the frontier against Xur and the Ko-Dan armada, I am paying tribute next week to a movie that inspired this trailer park kid to dream big. Subscribe here: from-the-desk-of-the-horror-chick.ghost.io (Both free & paid subs are appreciated!)
Yesterday, we celebrated our anniversary at the movies for a double feature of THE FURIOUS & MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE which was pretty damn awesome, especially since we haven’t been to the movies since March. (I’ll never get over how theaters here are in the casinos lol)
17 years ago today, this dude & I decided to go see GHOSTBUSTERS at a LAFF rep screening, neither of us realizing it would be the start of anything like this. We’ve been through so much but there’s no one else in this world I’d rather be on this ride with. I’m so freaking lucky.
Today was incredible and I think I’ll probably cry my entire drive home now lol.
I’m not saying that society has been in a sharp decline since LMFAO disbanded in 2012 but I’m not NOT saying it either…
One of my favorite memories I had of LA before I moved there in 2009 was going to a REPO! shadowcast & getting to meet Anthony Stewart Head (B & I didn’t know each other yet but he was there filming that night & has footage of me with him even). He was just so nice & excited that night. RIP, sir.
Tomorrow, we celebrate her. from-the-desk-of-the-horror-chick.ghost.io
When we did our ISOD book signing, trying to figure out which movie I wanted to rep that day was a challenge at first. Then, I decided to go with DEAD & BURIED because I truly adore it that much.
Super fun news! This arrived today & I was honored to provide a commentary track & help produce the interview with David Hare as well. I was a big Woolf nerd in HS so this was cool to be involved with.
Oooh, I’ve mentioned that I’ve been working on something pretty damn cool & getting to help produce a Wes Craven release is a dream come true! This was announced today so now I can talk about it (a bit, but not too much yet, lol).
