The Last Mile with USAID

🇺🇸 Service, democracy, and the last mile. From 4-H to the Peace Corps to the Foreign Service, one belief held: the Constitution is kept, not inherited. We keep it for each other.
The humanitarian response is welcome. The historical revisionism is not. This administration dismantled USAID, eliminated much of the workforce that built America’s disaster response capability, and now presents humanitarian assistance as though it emerged from nowhere.
America is strongest when our military deters wars, our diplomats prevent conflicts, and our development professionals stop crises before they begin. Restore America’s experts to service. Restore the missing pillar of American leadership. Restore USAID.
One rule may seem technical. Five rules, moving in the same direction, begin to resemble a pattern documented in democratic backsliding: expanding executive control over the bureaucracy while narrowing institutional checks on personnel decisions. Pay attention.
Act now. Vote NO on the Perry amendment. Eliminating all Peace Corps funding would dismantle one of America’s most effective bipartisan institutions. For six decades it has advanced peace, service, and U.S. interests around the world. Protect the Peace Corps.
Pope Leo XIV’s visit is a moral rebuke to a world treating hunger as inevitable. As aid budgets collapse and millions face famine, he stood with those abandoned by politics and indifference.
@teamsters.bsky.social Union solidarity means standing with workers when power comes for their jobs, their unions, and their dignity. It does not mean offering legitimacy to the people doing the damage.
Remember the women and men of USAID who made America safer, stronger, and more respected around the world. They fought hunger, disease, conflict, and despair with skill and courage. A mission may end, but their service, sacrifice, and bonds endure. #USAID #RDMAFamily
Elon Musk and the thousands of children who died because of his lies are unforgivable. Politicians who take his cash to run for office should be voted out.
This is what Republican leadership looks like in America.
