Pulling off the Awlmun Den ultra skip with Junko from Touhou (@yokuyukihime.yuri.agency) has easily been one of the funniest duo moments I’ve had in this game so far. The fact that the devs anticipated this with unique dialogue wilds me.
After seeing @yokuyukihime.yuri.agency's aerial E-Litre strat, the SplatOof crew were quickly convinced of its power. Here is a team of four of us running Junko's <<Pristine Danmaku to Splat a Salmonid>> with Ferment/Freeze/Ice Breaker combos on a Lv 80 Super Spicy stage. It's scarily effective!
New Personal Best of 2100 exactly in StarFox using Hard Route (minus Sector Z because Sector Z sucks). Definitely curious to see how much higher I can push if I had went with THE Route for score instead.
Speedkilling Star Wolf on Venom 2 so that Fox never delivers his introductory line until AFTER they have all been defeated makes Fox sound *SIGNIFICANTLY* more disrespectful than intended...
"Can't let you do that, Star Wolf!" "...No, seriously. You don't get to play. You don't even get to finish flying in. Do not. You're done. Leave."
Final Expert Challenge for Starfox Sector Z done. Now to never play this awful stage ever again. (I actually feel so bad for ROB here he sounds so scared)
Due to the way HIT+ bonus works in Starfox (64), it is possible to earn HIT+1 on singular targets. By destroying targets from the blast of a charge shot without locking-on, it will count as an indirect & give HIT+ bonus; handy for high scores. Zoness searchlights are good practice (note the +2/+1).
Smart Bombs no longer instantly destroy friendly support aircraft on Katina; note how all enemy craft are destroyed whilst all friendlies in the same radius are unharmed. Friendlies not being easily downed by nearby charge shots on enemies makes this easier to get the "no friendlies down" clear.
Starfox Expert Difficulty clear using "THE" Route with a 2000+ score. Forgot how punishing Expert Difficulty is over Normal; I lost count of the number of mid-air collissions on Katina now that charge shots don't destroy friendlies. I may also have sommersault death'd myself into an A6 cruiser ^^;
YO?! Did they actually FIX teammates being able to killsteal the missiles in Sector Z?! Pretty sure Katt here lands the last blow of Missile 6. ACTUALLY goated change if true. Sector Z still sucks though.
STILL GOT IT! First run after picking up Starfox, and it all just came back to me like riding a bicycle. EXACTLY 2000 Hits total score across, with a very clean 400+ in Meteo and 500+ in Area 6. Still one of the most enjoyable shooters I've played.
I love that you can still cut Slippy off mid-sentence here. Feels right at home.
Took a little bit of getting used to playing this on a Pro Controller but... yup. Starfox Switch 2 sure plays like Lylat Wars alright.
No one: Absolutely no one: My brain: "Four-way Charming vs Straight & Curve"
At 720 resolution, the Last Day background seems to actually fill about a third of the frame. At 960 resolution, it seems to almost fill the frame (still off-centre?). I guess it wasn't being rescaled/repositioned for the resolution setting? At least now I know my copy isn't broken anymore...
For ages, I thought there was something wrong with my copy of Impossible Spell Card due to the background never appearing properly on the Last Day. Today I finally worked out why. It turns out that the background simply doesn't display properly when the game resolution is set to 640x480.
LET'S GO SALTY RUNBACK WITH THE 0 LIVESA 0 BOMB BLUE REVOLVER FINISH GET OUT OF HERE
First time getting up to the final boss in Blue Revolver. This was my second ever credit after starting to play today. Absolutely on the edge of my seat right up until the end and- Wait... what the hell? Did I just get Kanako'd? ISC Yukari'd? Or is this closer to CAVE sillies? (Yes I had bomb orz)
Reisen is not amused by this sideways nonsense in Lensed Night Sky, by the way.
Due to an extremely funny bug in the current version of Lensed Night Sky, I was able to play the entire main game sideways. It's surprisingly trippy playing the game in this orientation, especially when bullets "Bounce" left/right instead of up/down. Kind of want this as a silly bonus option now.
Another wonderful tapestry of Yukari Yakumo made by @cocoillust.bsky.social arrived recently. I always love their artwork; buying their goods feels like a great way to support them. Now I have something to visualise what it might be like for Yukari to pop in through the wall. Huh? That's just me?
A ZUN-style image of Melia Antiqua, using her outfit design from Xenoblade 3. Because the appeal of Xenoblade x Touhou crossovers still burns deep in my heart, and I miss her... Artwork made by @primariobruh.bsky.social (Shared with permission). Thank you once again for your excellent work!
A ZUN-style image of Yukari Yakumo, based on the design used in "Touhou Makuka Sai ~ Fantastic Danmaku Festival Part III" (a solid and enjoyable Touhou danmaku shooter fangame). Art made by @primariobruh.bsky.social (shared with permission). Many thanks for your efforts!
So, I just completed the final ending of Touhou Lensed Night Sky, Kaseigai. Excuse me whilst I go out for a while and have a good cry...
The "corrupted" item known as \"c_getitembyid(ITEMS.ANYTHING).name", is genuinely one of the silliest, funniest, and most absurd things in Touhou Lensed Night Sky. It maps item properties and activations to various random gamestates, and *can* cause bugs or crash the game. This one was a god pull.
