Tom Robinson
@tomrobinson
UK-based songwriter and broadcaster (b.1950). Rock Against Racism, Glad To Be LGBT+, Sometime DJ on BBC Radio 6 Music
My brother Matthew is based in Cambodia, but visiting the UK to celebrate his 82nd birthday this Monday. Here we are on Cromer Beach, I think, circa 1951.
From Alan Bennett's recent diary collection, Enough Said: "A call from Radio 4 from my views on assisted dying. Answer - too near to the unassisted type to be keen on it."
The Warming Stripes by Professor Ed Hawkins, University of Reading @edhawkins.org. Graphic representing the changes in global temperature from 1850 to the present day. Each stripe represents a year, with blues for colder years and reds for hotter years. Please share & discuss with family & friends..
More woke nonsense from the BBC... If only they could get back to the values of the good old days just after the war... oh wait.
Trying to identify a piece of instrumental light music I remember BBC Dance orchestras playing on the Light Programme's Music While You Work show in the early-mid 1950s. I stil remember the melody - plonked out here on one finger piano. Anyone else out there old enough to be able to help?
My first band met when we lived on Teesside - our ambition was to play Boro Town Hall. Playing Stockton 50 yrs later feels close to home. Expect songs from Rock against Racism, encounters with Eddy and Elton, new tunes, old jokes & outstanding guitar from Adam Phillips. See tomrobinson.com/gigs
My firstborn just texted me saying: "sorry I didn't get you a card yesterday but I had seen this one I would've done..."
It's the 82nd anniversary of the D-day landings in 1944. If people then had looked back 82 years for something to celebrate, it would have taken them to 1862. The year of Victor Hugo's Les Mis, the invention of the Gatling Gun, and escalating carnage in The American Civil War. #enoughalready
A good time to revist this oldie from W1A... BBC Director of Better - job introduction. The Establishment of a Director of Better represents a turning point to the BBC by placing the idea of betterness at its core going forward and beyond.
Posted on Inastagram this weekend by Ben Johns www.instagram.com/ben_johns/. The sudden discovery that the village he grew up in is no longer a place where he can walk the street in safety has clearly been devastating...

Oh Dan yes, of course - I too went on that March For Love, Unity & Hope (www.patreon.com/posts/togeth...). But that message badly jarred with all the "Smash Fascism" placards I saw on the day. My own brother's a Yaxley-Lennon supporter: you can be extremely angry with someone without hating them.
Gutted to hear of Andy Kershaw's passing. A memorable broadcast journalist for #BBCRadio4's #FromOurOwnCorrespondent, the #TodayProgramme & #TheWorldTonight, Andy reported from the 1994 #Rwanda genocide, the #Angola civil war in 1996, #SierraLeone in 2001 and repeatedly from #Haiti.
Dr Donald Trump famously posted this AI image to Truth Social on April 13. MAGA influencer Nick Adams first posted it in Feb, framing it as the POTUS "healing a sick America". Trump's since deleted the post, but in case you'd like a 1500x1100 copy for your archives...
