As further evidence of this, you can find women enslavers in the census. They were not widows and they were not unmarried women. Legal institutions bent to enslavement and gave Southern White women specific economic interest in enslavement, and they used it frequently.
When we think of the horrors of enslavement we typically think of family breakup and violence, and the narrative says these were primarily carried out by men. My research shows that White women were quite active in buying and selling enslaved people. They were market makers.
This is what reaching across the generations is about. If you can recall where you were when these events took place, you need to go ahead and schedule that colonoscopy. It’s time.

Yesterday at the Columbus Arts Festival, Palmer Woodworking of Columbus, OH let me turn two blocks of wood into a pen! I turned, sanded, polished, and assembled this myself. It was a great experience and wood turning is a lot of fun!! If you have the opportunity, DO IT!!
