Also, not too worried about this yet but this red dot just south of me used to be yellow and now, uh, it is red and, uh, there is a lot of smoke coming from that direction. (It is in inhospitable terrain, for a fire, but I prefer the yellow version of the Riley Creek blaze.)

The province doesn't post evacuation alerts on Blue sky, just in Twitter, but some notable ones this evening: Spuzzum First Nation, the Village of Clinton and the Gun Lake area all on alerts for different fires. The Gun Lake area was devastated a couple years ago.

Luckily for Boston Bar and surrounding areas, a bunch of smoke can actually reduce the threat of a fire. Here in Lillooet, where the sun's shining it's 38C. 45 minutes south, in smokey Lytton, it's a cool 35C

This appears to be more or less the direction of the fire, from the video and photos I've seen. Still a decent amount of hillside between Boston Bar proper and the flames, it appears.

The fire has grown incredibly fast. If there's one solace, video posted online shows flames racing to the east, up the nearby mountainside. Better than the alternative (directly north toward town).

This fire is a bit south of where the Brunswick Creek fire had been near Boston Bar, immediately south of town on the right side of the river. Very near Tuckkwiowhum Heritage Village. It's 37 C in the canyon right now.

Went for walk, encountered momma deer and fawns who sent us down another path. Kid fell in cacti, got some street tweezers, found the source of the rock music blaring all over town, returned, and now we are up to 112.

I'm not a doom-monger, but the 1,2,3 punch of very hot weather, followed by thunderstorms, followed by more forecast very hot weather seems like it's setting things up for a very bad couple of fire weeks in the BC Interior. Lots of new fires from last night + thunderstorms predicted tonight

As the eastern US gripes about Canada smoke, western Canada looks like it will soon be getting US smoke.

Fire just south of Lillooet. Lightning caused. Nine kilometres away from town. Waaaaaay up a very tall mountain so shouldn't be too much of a problem given the weather outlook.

Several evacuation orders and alerts for the Lytton area have been downgraded. Been another cool day.

Via BC Wildfire Service. Rank 5 fires spread extremely quickly. The worry is not regarding the townsite, but the many places to the south that survived the 2021 fire.

Within an hour of the 2021 killer fire (there was another fire that year before the big one), we could see a massive plume from Lillooet. Today. I just see this fella.
