In contrast, when I went to the Bosnia/Qatar game I got off in Pioneer Square and was immediately directed to the pedestrian zone where there was plenty of room to walk in the street.
Yes, that’s where I normally cross and where they are blocking pedestrians right now (at least during the games). It’s not great, but it’s one crossing. At Jackson, we had to cross two wide streets, and there wasn’t enough space at the median for everyone so we had to skip a pedestrian signal.
I miss being able to go into Nordstrom from the bus tunnel, but as a Steller’s Jay lover, I approve of this art
It’s my last year chaperoning the annual walking field trip to Golden Gardens 😢 Kids who normally balk at climbing these stairs with their parents think it’s good fun with their friends
The driver, shown here in red, was waiting to turn right, with her eyes on the road to her left. The drivers on Holman stopped at the red light where the line is drawn in yellow highlighter. When they stopped she turned right at high speed, oblivious to the conflict with the pedestrian signal.
One more complaint for today. This driver turned right onto Holman Road and blasted right through the pedestrian crossing between a playground and Dick's. She should have known not to do this, but also, what an unsafe road design!
I’ve considered Nemesis. Here she is with her wheel and her book writing down all the things that need avenging.
More Japan urbanism thoughts: Vending machines everywhere! And you can use your transit card to pay for your drink! (Some of them, but not this one, even have hot drinks)
This is the kind of toddler seat I’m talking about. I’ve only seen one in Seattle—I think at U Village. These were really very common in Tokyo.
More Japan urbanism thoughts: There is very little on-street parking, and, where it exists, it is short-term and paid.
I can’t remember if it’s posted on the trains, but it is on their website:
The Torrent are listing their Bluesky account first among their social media accounts. I believe this is a Choice.
