If you do work for a company you should be paid in full and on time
Hey, Vlad. Know who else was on the Fast Company list? Us. The workers. 👋👋👋
“I should be paid for the work that I do” should not be a high bar to clear, and yet in the games industry it routinely is.
When there's no accountability for the folks up top, they will continuously make the workers suffer for their mistakes. That's why workers in the games industry all over the world are banding together. If no one else will hold them accountable: we will.
The enclosure of Yerba Buena Gardens didn’t stop us from leading a march to discuss our Game Workers’ Bill of Rights earlier this week — our way to fight for standardization across video game studios and employers that empower workers instead of breaking them down.
Video games make companies billions in profit yet we are still getting laid off at alarming rates. If this is a reality you know all too well and want to fight against, come find us at GDC!!
Come stop by our booth to get buttons, ribbons, zines, and anti-spiking drink-cover stickers! You can also talk to an organizer about what unionizing might be able to do for you and our industry!
At this year’s DICE Awards, Ghost of Yōtei VA @erikaishii.bsky.social used their platform to demand that video game workers are treated fairly and with respect. If you want to be part of our fight to build a better industry, reach out and get connected with an organizer. Congratulations, Erika! 💪
