Basking sharks are the largest fish in UK seas. 🦈 They can grow up to 12 metres long, the size of a double-decker bus! 🚌 They’re most commonly seen cruising British coastal waters in summertime, especially off Cornwall, the west coast of Scotland, the English Channel, and the Isle of Man.

A little reminder that dinosaurs still exist. 🦕 Hoatzins are coming to the end of their first egg-laying season of the year. These birds bear a striking resemblance to Archaeopteryx, the famous bird-like dinosaur, and are a great reminder that not all the dinos went extinct!

Great news for our oceans! 🦀 Since 2019, we've planted 4.9 million seeds through Seagrass Ocean Rescue. 🎉 Seagrass meadows protect coastlines & shelter marine life, but the UK has lost 92% over the last century. Our restoration plots are even spreading on their own, beyond where we planted. 🙌

How endangered are marine turtles? 🐢 Some species remain critically at risk, but some, like green turtles, are no longer endangered globally. Progress shows conservation works. But with most marine turtles still under threat, key gaps remain. We’re working to close them.
