csa week 4 - another week I’m grateful I was able to pay for a season’s worth of chemical free local farm produce up front at the beginning of the year - consider myself very fortunate - nothing at all goes to waste 💚
big baby bird update 🪺 How are they so big already!?! I caught a glimpse two or three days ago and they had these wispy, sparse feathers and now they’re trying to shed them. So dang cute 💙

it’s the time of year when I’m using up the remaining jars of homemade jam from last season - these are tayberry jam crumb bars (recipe 🔗 in ALT) 👩🏻🍳
The craziest visitor was this bobcat a few years ago who silently stepped out of the greenbelt in the middle of the day while I was about 10 feet away. I was too stunned to worry about whether I was in danger or not until after it had disappeared back into the woods.
Today’s visitors - Cooper’s currently losing his mind. My yard is like that show Wild Kingdom - never a dull moment.
Taking pictures from far away now - papa is always close by looking like he’s gonna peck my eyeballs if I come too close to the babies. He and mama are back and forth all day long with meals and I can just *barely* hear tiny chirps every time one of them drops into the nest with a tasty morsel 🩵🪺
Second time this week I’ve opened the front door and startled the same group of three deer in my yard. All male - got a picture of the last one as they were leaving today.
Zoomed in and watched these shenanigans going on for about 10 minutes - baby’s head pops up, mouth agape, tilts back a bit too far aaaand topples out of sight… over and over and over 😂
daily bird update: 🪱🪺 I think they’re serving up Second Breakfast. I’ve figured out their alarm call and it’s funny, they never make it when I’m puttering around outside near the lilac. I think they’ve figured out I’m not a threat.
