So what the heck happened with Houston Broadway Theatre's Falsettos? (From the director's IG story)

On the first day of rehearsal | texted Bill's partner Arthur to let him know I was starting rehearsals for Falsettos. He responded how glad he was and that he knew Bill was there in the room with us, which is why after 6 bewildering days ending in the cancellation of the production, I'm choosing to focus on care and love especially for the folks below, the creative team, and all who were helping to make what I know would have been a beautiful production. Some day I will finally get to direct this gorgeous show which has lived in me for so long.

There was a cute, short curtain speech and Q & A by Dez Duron, and a group photo of all the standbys! And everyone sang "this is where you belong." Chris Tamayo (standby Oliver) had entered with a guitar and said, "Now we do Hadestown!" and I may have accidentally yelp-laughed

Maybe Happy Ending tonight was so special! To celebrate being the longest-running show at the Belasco, we all got an Oliver tote bag that contained a glow stick, along with instructions. This could've gone badly, but didn't! The soft clicking for like 30 seconds was kinda funny, though.

A tote bag in the style of Oliver's shirt and tie that says "this is where you belong / maybe happy ending," a glow stick, and a postcard that reads:
"WHEN OLIVER SAYS THE LINE:
"LET'S GO SEE THE FIREFLIES"

“I think that you have the right as a player to believe and say whatever you want,” said the team’s beloved broadcaster Mike Krukow. “But you have to take a broader look at the city you’re playing in. What makes San Francisco so great is the acceptance of others — ethnicities, opinions, cultures — and that extends to the gay community.
“I would just hope they would understand the demographic of San Francisco and respect people for who they are. What you do to your uniform, that has weight to it. You can offend people. And why would you do that?”
Pride is an issue close to Krukow’s heart. His son Wes is gay and is married to his partner, Ted. Wes, a dancer, is currently performing in Phantom of the Opera at the Orpheum.
“I’m so proud of him,” Krukow said. “I’ve seen gay life through my son’s eyes. The culture and the community is so beautiful.”

When it comes time to vote in the midterms, Tarek Hussein plans to support his party where he feels it’s deserved.

“I will vote Republican for the good Republican candidate,” he said.

Mohamed Hussein, said the convention left himself asking questions.

“How can I possibly get behind a party that tells me to leave, that says convert or leave?” he asked. “How do they think that is going to be some kind of winning strategy?”

Man, I love Astoria. It's 99 totally normal people who are just getting by and totally chill and then one person with 75 catholic idol candles glued to the back shelf in his car, a $400 suit made partly with aluminum foil, and with some weird theory that all western culture began in a barn in Romania.

Kathleen Heidenreich lives about a mile away from the H Mart in Dublin and said she’s frustrated that the crowds have taken all the parking in the complex. She had to park several blocks away on a recent trip to the center to visit DSW, a shoe store. Heidenreich, who is 70, white and a Dublin resident of 16 years, said she misses Hobby Lobby and a fabric store, both of which have shuttered. She hopes for a different kind of retailer to fill the city’s empty storefronts.

Spelling Bee tonight! An impulse buy a week ago because it popped up on TDF. Some great understudies (I think Chip had friends in the crowd.) And Lea DeLaria was one of the spellers! She was having a blast. I think one of their descriptions was "the only sixth grader to have forearm tattoos."

Tonight: Maya Rudolph as Mary Todd Lincoln! Oddly enough, I felt like almost nothing she did surprised me (though was incredibly funny) until the desk scene with her teacher. Then the wheels came off in the best way. It was a great night and I was happy to see these alumni return!
