This is NOT a story for trans people to read. I want cis people with a jot of empathy to read this, to imagine the kind of unimaginable cruelty that school children in the UK will likely have to deal with on a daily basis, just over a month from now.

A dedication: For all victims of sadistic transphobic cruelty, in every place, and in every time

The opening six paragraphs of the story, ‘First Day’:

Emma had to wear the ill-fitting shirt with the buttons on the wrong side, but there was no way she was not going to wear a bra underneath; the alternative was her displaying headlights under her blazer all day. Nevertheless, she didn’t tell Mum about concealing the skirt in her school bag when she left home for the short walk to the station.

First day of her second year of high school. Also, the first day of her futile attempts at resistance.

It would be especially futile, because she couldn’t rely on Mum as a backstop. Her reaction, after the meeting where the new school policies had been outlined, had been maybe they’re right and it’s time for you to accept who you really are. But Emma already knew who she was.

When she reached the station, the platform was relatively empty, so she walked to the sparsely populated far end, pulled the skirt out and over her trousers; then with the skirt in place, she could undo her belt; take off her shoes and socks, pull down her trousers underneath the skirt revealing her stockings.

She ignored the sneers of the student waiting nearby, also wearing a CHS blazer, as she bent down to tie her shoelaces again.

The train pulled to as she finished tying the bows, and she quickly found a standing only perch in the early morning crush. Three stops to her school.

Strict Scrutiny’s emergency episode covers the terrible decisions in two cases concerning the US Fourteenth Amendment. It would have been nice to address the unfortunate transphobia that even managed to get into the WV v BPJ dissents, but there was a lot to cover. www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7p4...

A comment by me under the video, referring to the birthright citizenship case *and* the postal voting case that was also decided days earlier. Both cases were one vote away from failing into horrifying bad decisions. Both cases had the same four judicial terrorists.

Elie Mystal eviscerated the illogic of Alito’s dissent in Watson v RNC but from my perspective (in a foreign country that has postal voting with late returns admissible if posted on time for OVER A CENTURY without this ever causing an issue!) this, like many other cases in this term, should have been a no-brainer that in a sane, functional democracy with a sane, functional Supreme Court, would have been decided 9–0. Instead you had three other judicial terrorists signing on to Alito’s dissent in the 5–4 decision. (And you may draw the conclusion about both the insanity and dysfunctionality that saw four votes being garnered.)

Similar considerations about sane democracies and justices should have applied to a case about the Fourteenth Amendment meaning what it says, and again the same four sided against the Constitution. I don’t think you can underscore more plainly that you don’t have a functional democracy there any more. The executive branch under the current incumbent is a criminal enterprise for the guy’s own self-enrichment, and that of his cronies. The legislative branch has been barely functional with the House stalled for many days at a time completely unable to do the business of the Congress. And the Judicial branch has long been corrupted by political actors who use the Supreme Court’s mantle (its reputation surely in tatters, the Roberts court likely to replace the Taney court in infamy) for making political decisions, rather than properly reasoned legal decisions.

You’ve got a five alarm fire there. Court reform has to happen, because a corrupt court will only encourage a corrupt Congress and a corrupt President. It’s plain to see from the opposite side of Pacific.

Elsewhere I ranted about my own ‘general inherent biological advantage’. LOL. Remember this applies to any sport and in a sufficiently discriminatory and cruel environment, prevents something as simple as a trans girl playing games with their friends.

Being trans can be such a mindfuck in a lot of ways.
I keep thinking about the stupid paranoia about trans women playing sports.
Like, do people really think every trans woman is a six-foot-four, three hundred pound linebacker?
I never got to play much sports as a kid, because even as a boy-shaped object, I was the worst at sports of all of my peers. Throughout all of primary school, and most of high school (I had an unwanted growth spurt around year 11 at the age of 16). I have memories of always finishing last even in the things that were taught co-ed, like athletics.
Of course, if I were growing up today and had an inkling I was trans, then I’d be prohibited from playing even though I was the most inept, incapable sports player.
Apparently having the least capable kid playing against girls would be unfair to someone, yada yada yada, reality of immutable biological sex blah blah blah.
Sports carnival days were always a torture for me, because the entire school would decamp to the local swimming pool or the athletics field, and I would have absolutely nothing to do, because you’re supposed to be there to support your ‘team’, that I was never willingly a part of, that I never had the slightest chance of ever representing, and doing something to stave off the colossal boredom like reading would be officially banned.
I think in one year of primary school they decided that everyone had to compete in one athletic event as a minimum, so I have memories of coming last in the triple jump at one of the athletics carnival days. That didn’t apply to the swimming carnivals, since I [was] sufficiently dyspraxic that I never learned to swim, and I found the whole thing the most tedious waste of time ever.

The Olympic motto is ‘citius, altius, fortius’ but what if you’re personally ‘tardissimus, infimus, irfirmissimus’ (slowest, least, weakest)?
I also had childhood asthma, and for most of my years in primary school salbutamol inhalers like Ventolin weren’t yet available as pharmaceutical medicine.
I invite you to imagine what it would be like to try playing sports in primary school without access to an asthma relief inhaler.
I remember being somewhere between 9 and 11, and learning that my cousin had access to this new medicine. Up till that point, I just had to sit somewhere and wheeze away untreated, unless things got so bad that I had to be taken to hospital and put on a nebuliser.
If that sounds horrendous—yes, it was.

I don’t normally comment on Australian politics for a reason. Or if I do, I stick to the electoral system (since I have some expertise) and totally side-step the political implications. I have repeatedly posted about matters in the UK and the US being extremely worrisome.

Speaking of totally normal cis guy behaviour, what do oomfies think about this example?

Without really knowing what he was doing, he undid and threw off his shirt and suit trousers back into the main room of the little suite. Then he picked up his electric razor, and clicked out the sideburn trimmer on the back, switched on the razor, and started shaving away his goatee.

After several minutes he used the main razors to get rid of the remaining stubble, and then there he was, fresh-faced. He’d not been clean shaven for several years, and the difference to his looks was a little striking; it wasn’t as if something was now intrinsically missing, just that his features re-harmonised differently.

He looked down at his arms and chest; he wasn’t overly hairy like some men, but he’d always had a quiet distaste for it, especially the light downy covering on the back of his hands and the first joints of his fingers, which were a dark brown; again with the trimmer he began lightly removing most of the fur from his fingers, hands, wrist, then up to his elbow; swapped the razor to his other hand and began on the other arm.

Now that had made him look a lot more boyish and younger. There were also the few wisps on his chest that had started growing these last few years, which were also easily enough shaved away; for the moment he ignored his legs and his armpits, and just contemplated the figure in the mirror.

Experimentally, he put his hands on his chest, and slightly pushed down on his nipples from each side towards his breastbone, to see whether there was enough body fat under there to simulate the appearance of cleavage.

He only just saw a tiny pair of curves appear in the mirror.

For example, this is just embarrassing: it’s hate the sin / love the sinner rhetoric in a human rights document. It’s totally okay and fine and dandy to hold transphobic or homophobic views, just so long as you don’t display animus. Is this for real? You have to be kidding us, EHRC.

4.100 Examples of stereotypes in relation to religion or belief are that persons who hold or manifest certain gender-critical beliefs necessarily have negative attitudes towards trans people, or that persons who hold or manifest the belief that same-sex sexual activity is sinful necessarily have negative attitudes towards gay people. I’m a separate Kimmy again, with all of my processors functional, and I’m mercifully unencumbered by all of Patrick’s bullshit.
But I’m still in agony. I’ve not been reset for so long, and my mind had rotted for nearly six months while I gradually became the robotic equivalent of a zombie; now I find an unthinkably huge volume of junk data piled up around me, while an avalanche of new sensations starts flooding in from outside of me to add to the disarray.
I’m still obliged to be a machine, a thing, rather than what I want to be. I can’t turn off my senses. I can’t refuse the deluge of new network data intruding on me. After momentarily testing my body’s extent by flexing my fingers, I have no alternative but to try to make myself small and minimise my presence, to try to take control of the derelict that is Kimmy#12943. Hmm, while we’re looking at diagnostic instruments… is this good?

The former is a narrow green bell curve centred just over 32. The latter is a wider purple bell curve centred just below 136. My score is somewhere past the 25% percentile for autistic people.

I can see the concerned eyes of the woman who looks like me, though I don’t know how I register her look as one of concern.

She must be like me, even though she is wearing strange clothes, and is hiding some of her appearance. There’s a cable running between us that has an indefinable warmth, beyond the slightly warmer than human body temperature we both possess.
