432/ US strikes prep for Ground invasion? "...current indicators suggest that we may be approaching the most significant escalation in the U.S.-Iran confrontation since February, driven by Washington’s failure to achieve its strategic objectives" - @hamidrezaaz.bsky.social x.com/HamidRezaAz/...
431/ RT Trita Parsi: Oil traders warn market is close to running on empty as Hormuz shuts again Stockpiles that acted as shock absorbers early in Iran war are running low as crucial waterway closes again “We’ve burned through all of the buffers we had. Everything.” www.ft.com/content/6c31...
430/ 2 things wrong w Blas argument: 1 Pipelines can be bombed. 2 The Houthis currently are a threat held in reserve by Iran. If the US targeting of Iran escalates to more power plants & economic infra, then Iran tells Houthis to blockade Bab-al-Mandab ie block those alternative pipelines.
429/ "Therefore, it appears that Iran’s only strategy at this moment is to keep the Strait closed for as long as possible while the United States continues drawing down its strategic oil reserves, until the impact on the global oil market & the US economy becomes irreversible" x.com/HamidRezaAz/...
428/ CENTCOM yesterday: "U.S. forces struck Iranian command centers, air defense sites, missile and drone capabilities, and coastal surveillance facilities to further degrade Iran's ability to threaten innocent mariners crewing commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz" Today, 16th July:
"We regulate tailpipes and smokestacks, but the fastest-growing PM2.5 source in North America is FIRE, erasing a lot of the gains on traditional pollution sources. 2025 Nature paper by @MarshallBBurke: Estimated 71,000 excess US deaths/yr from wildfire smoke by 2050." www.nature.com/articles/s41...
This is the most Canadian thing ever. "You all need to hurry up here, like seriously. We're encased in flames now. This has gotta move f*ckin' quicker. It's alright, it's kind of burnt off so we'll be okay now. Hoooo! That's a meet and a half, eh?"" x.com/JaneotN/stat...
This is cold. "I want a whole anime of this world cup if Messi goes on and wins it all." x.com/CFCMods/stat...
The insanity of the world summarised in two headlines on Canadian wildfires whose smoke is billowing across continent into the lungs of 100 million plus ppl: "Wildfires threaten Canadian oil sands" "Three major US cities top world’s worst air quality rankings" phenomenalworld.org/analysis/glo...
Perfect photo "Messi lifted the ball, and in front of him was a line of seven defenders along with the goalkeeper too, and the shortest one among them was 1.85, yet the ball landed exactly on the head of Lautaro, who's 174 tall, at the spot that made the goal his alone..." x.com/ElhasseKhali...
This is now every year. Smoke from wildfires ravaging Canada now billowing into the lungs of millions of people in the US. !! "Detroit, Chicago and Minneapolis now represent 3 of the 4 worst major cities for air quality on the entire planet."
lol how do you say Streisand effect in Chinese? Chinese govt outburst against Peterson institute's 'China Squeeze' paper is going to make more people read it! @katemac.bsky.social & I wrote about it thepolycrisis.org/the-beijing-...
“If the rise of China has been the biggest global economic story of the past forty years, it’s hard to shake the notion that its forthcoming shrinking…won’t be equivalently major” www.ft.com/content/bbef...
9/Listening to US & Israel hawks paraded on CNN saying this if you read between the lines "If Iran hits back we must escalate bc they're strong. If Iran doesnt hit back,we must finish the job bc they're weak. The only constant is more bombs, more killing, more $ on their forever war"- Ben Rhodes
8/ What US failure looks like: What would an Iran thats the regional hegemon actually mean? A wholly different middle east with a wholly new equation with the Americans, Israel and Gulf kings. Robert Pape spells it out. bsky.app/profile/70sb...
8/ What failure looks like "This week, Trump painted a more dire picture of Iran's situation, saying “their economy is crashing,” their currency is “worthless” & "their missiles are mostly decimated." Great reporting by Washington Post on US intelligence: bsky.app/profile/70sb...
4/ “No bomber can do much against facilities buried more than 70 metres underground,” he said. “Watching B-52s drop multiple bunker-buster bombs on a single site looked terrifying. Yet, only a few hours later, missiles were being launched from the same location. They cannot be destroyed. Full stop!”
As War restarts, I keep hearing "tactical success, strategic failure" as a summary of US-Israel war on Iran because of enormous destruction of Iran's military and economic capacity & regime decapitation. But its better described as "tactical failure, strategic failure". Good note by @policytensor
425/Claims are unverified by international media like CNN, Reuters etc Consistent pattern has been: -US strikes are quickly reported on media sourced from Pentagon -Gulf nations under attack report interceptions -Iranian claims by IRGC take months to verify -Media later verify subset of Iran strikes
haha the conspiracy theories are going too far.... the FIFA-as-Matrix meme you didn't know you wanted. x.com/lobotosasha/...

9/ "The project of dividing the world by spheres of security, backed by rival technology stacks and energy sources, is advancing fast. The only international law is the law of the jungle" Mark Blyth summed up why we created a Polycrisis podcast ELECTRIC WORLD ORDER. Listen here pod.link/1884213852
7/ The Polycrisis project is on geopolitics and climate, @katemac.bsky.social & I have a point of view: We diagnose climate as a systemic crisis in economics and geopolitics rather than an isolated environmental problem Find our essays, newsletter and podcast here: thepolycrisis.org
