Friday, though the core of the smoke plume may shift a bit farther south. Young children, those that are young at heart, and people suffering from respiratory ailments are especially susceptible to these conditions and should limit outdoor exposure.

What is a “Polish swipe”? I know what an Italian ice is, and a Swedish bun, and a Dutch oven pancake, but this one is new.

Gmail interface in Android, where the caret / text cursor has a very light icon of a wand followed by the word “Polish” followed by the word “Swipe” in a box with a rightward arrow. My email starts with “Hey…” and has the signature “Sent from my mobile and probably full of typos as a result.”

Yet another #accessibility #overlay that introduces WCAG failures just by installing it. Users might not be able to report an accessibility problem. Here, one field is unlabeled (4.1.2 / 1.3.1) and the other is labeled by its placeholder (1.4.3 / 3.3.2). This one offered by Welcoming Web.

Trying an old nav pattern with `focusgroup` and `role` on the `<ul>` in Chrome 150 and getting unexpected results: cdpn.io/aardrian/deb... `focusgroup=menubar`: • no roles change. `role=menubar`: • child `<li>`s lose role. Both: • child `<li>`s lose role, • `<button>`s become `menuitem`s.

Playing with `focusgroup` support in Chrome 150 and I like seeing the browser assign role based on the `focusgroup` token. Yes, you can override with explicit `role`, which will undoubtedly happen as devs choose kbd patterns that don’t match the role. But still neat. codepen.io/aardrian/pen...

Since I fired up Chrome and enabled grid lanes to read Manuel’s post, I tried my 2019 reading order bookmarklet: adrianroselli.com/2019/04/read... And it works! You have to run it from the top of the page for the numbers to go in the right spots, but it works! #CSS #accessibility #a11y

This is just me venting. I hate that if I want to lug a slightly smaller screen than my Surface Go to gaming, the iPad Mini behaves more like a tiny phone than my actual phone. With no way to tell DnD Beyond that there is plenty of real estate and to please use it. I blame Apple / Safari here.

With so many articles telling us to make our sites accessible so LLMs can more easily steal the content, it’s ironic when the articles (and articles about the articles) themselves aren’t.
