I'm just a writer, looking for a reason. Also—cinephile, book lover, dog mom. Just trying to make it from one day to the next. She/her. Letterboxd: boxd.it/4Vmb7
This is what happens when the weather is nice. Today would be my ideal summer day. I can't express how much I hate heat and sun.
Went to my biannual Hurricanes game, and the boys honored me with a win. 👍 Also got to (briefly) meet @wademinter.com!
Yes, pretty much everything you see is the bad kind. 🫤 I don't think the smell of mine is quite as powerful. But I think the purple color is deeper and prettier!
My Keena is starting Prozac today. She's always been a nervous girl, but we've managed it with positivity and support. But she's going to be 12 this year, and the list of things that make her cower and hide is getting ridiculous. I don't want her living with high baseline anxiety.
I always need space for new books, but I'm basically out of places in my house to put bookshelves. So when I find an odd-shaped bookcase that perfectly fits into a small available space in my house, it's super satisfying.
I used to write poetry. I thought they were pretty good, but more than that, I enjoyed it. When I was getting my masters in Creative Writing (prose), I showed one to a poetry MFA. He wasn't impressed, and didn't hide it. I haven't written anything since then.
Begging people to realize that "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" is a literal impossibility.
In what world are any of these meals a value, let alone an EXTRA value?!
Rewatching Origin. It's criminal that this didn't win tons more awards. It's so beautiful and devastating. #filmsky
My beautiful baby girl had an ear infection recently and lost her hearing. She doesn't seem to mind, and she's been quick to pick up my use of hand signals in substitute for words. I love my sweet girl.
Rewatching Jurassic Park, and know who we really need brought back for a sequel? Joe Mazzello.
It's hard to imagine what life would be like if my friend hadn't turned her car around and gone back for the two varmints she saw trudging some old country road, one with a broken leg. I'll forever be grateful to her for bringing me my best friend. 🥰
Kali and Kai are now 13 years old, and today they got to spend some time together, probably for the last time. They've both had wonderful, loving lives and meant the world to their human companions. It was so sweet to be able to see this brother and sister play like puppies again.
Years ago, a friend of mine rescued two puppies wandering in rural NC. Her parents kept the boy puppy, Kai, and she adopted the girl, Kali, to a new coworker who needed just the right dog at just the right time. Over the years the puppies have been able to get together now and then to play.
Watching The Life of Chuck makes me want to create a letterboxd list called "Pure Joy," even though I don't know what else I would put on it. Thanks @mikeflanaganfilm.com. 🥹 #filmsky 📽️
Are they fucking kidding?! The idea that any effort, skill, or choices can justify the orders of magnitude inequality between the pay of the top echelons and the workers is fucking offensive.
