I somehow missed this new low, where The Washington Post editorial board blamed Ward 7 and 8 food deserts on shoplifting, and not prosecuting shoplifters (and also somehow Mamdani and Lewis George)

Washington Post article text that reads: “The biggest reason there aren’t more grocery stores east of the Anacostia is because local authorities do not aggressively arrest and prosecute shoplifters, which makes it impossible for the stores to be profitable and therefore remain open.”
