Do you have a weekly go-to comfort dish? Portuguese roast chicken is becoming mine. Love making enough to share.
If I could adopt a water buffalo and take up cheese making, everything in this dish would have been grown or raised by me. Thank God others do the cheese making. Still, one of my better eggplant parms, and i’ve had some epic fails here.
Scallops seared, sauce made with butter, jamon iberico, shallots, parsley, smoked paprika, sherry. Might be ok.
Trying out hot climate greens. Brazilian spinach or sissoo. Nice crunch, rather mild. But healthy I guess and grows like a weed here. A keeper.
Rather inauthentic chicken tagine. I have no tagine alas, so doing my best.
If you see old vine Carignan from Lebanon, buy it. They make an unloved grape wonderful.
The pride of Connecticut, Jimmy Nardello Sweet Italian peppers. These are huge. They’ll finish reddening and then be dried.
Portuguese roast chicken over onions, peppers and taters. Marinated in Portuguese allspice and pimenta moida at work here. And probably no small amount of colonial suffering as well. My people’s comfort food comes with…some unfun stuff.
Succotash, with most items from garden. One of the best Southern things.
Pickled/preserved some lemons, new territory for me. We’ll see how this goes.
Long busy day calls for chicken sauce piquante. Tomatoes, celery, onions, garlic and herbs from garden. Chicken, Manda sausage from Baton Rouge, and creole seasoning, not from my garden.
This came up feral in the garden and I don’t know what the hell it is. My very uneducated guess is cushaw squash. At least 5 fruit so far.
