The ‘rights’ being claimed by witnesses by a specific religious group at a Royal Commission in Australia would not be a consideration in France. ‘Egalité’, sure- but ‘laïcité’ prevents preferential treatment for <any> faith…
Australia is rushing through legislation in which #auspol expects the public to accept ‘no procedural fairness’ in its application. This deserves extra scrutiny, obviously. Quite extraordinary, sneaky and dangerous, without including judicial oversight.
What, this old thing? That’s just me, using the stitching horse I built last year to make some vestigial leather bags for my chess pieces. No big deal (but profoundly satisfying) Try making something- it’s good for the soul, in these dark times!
I was today years old when I discovered that Pieris spp. also evolved grayanotoxins, as part of the Ericaceae family. Many of us might know about Rhododendrons and ‘mad honey’… this beauty is in flower in the Old Parliamentary Gardens in Canberra. (Wisteria not out yet!😉) #poisonousplants
Here with my brother from another mother, @chriskats.bsky.social!
Day 1 of the Airway Masterclass 2025 in Amsterdam, and it starts with a SALAD- obvs…
I am not the only Emergency Consultant to have been frivolously described as a Master of Disaster. Today, I officially, and academically, became one…
Gearing up for the opening session of #WADEM in Tokyo, which this year is about governance & VUCA: - volatility - uncertainty - complexity, & - ambiguity A term normally used to define disaster medicine environments, but one which might be equally applicable to geopolitics at the moment.
Rescuing old talks from corroding CDs, stumbled across my first ever talk for WADEM, way back in Melbourne, & nearly a quarter of a century ago. Looking forward to catching up with this unique family in Tokyo this week, to chat about how to help a world increasingly facing a disastrous future.
Top work, ANUFG+Irish Embassy, for screening the excellent @kneecapceol.bsky.social movie, here in Canberra. Coachella bumped up the turnout even more, I’m told… Keep up the great work, lads!
Outside the Irish embassy tonight in Canberra, for the St Patrick’s day drinks. Plenty of folk stopping to chat, and wish the lads well. Great conversation starter for the foreign diplomats, as to the powers of Irish President vs Taoiseach!
Any fish, ‘en papillote’ provides magnificent fodder. Stuff with herbs of your choice lemon, and spring onions- wrap in baking paper, and cook for 15 minutes at 200°C- et voila. Mackerel, good to go. Easy.
🚨‼️Red Notice, out of CanTEST‼️🚨 Liquid free base methamphetamine has been identified in a sample thought to be GHB. There’s a fair bit of GHB consumed in CBR, & were anyone to mix up the 2, it would likely result in a trip to hospital. Top job from the analysts- & ACT Health- for the rapid messaging
I’d imagine that many of the latest crop of medical administrators have yet to read this- from 2010😇 If we addressed the healthcare ecosystem like bees, & nurtured it, & tended to its needs, it would thrive. Instead, it’s managed by locusts, consuming workers to extinction. Working kinder = smarter!
Does anyone know who painted this? I’d like to see more of their work.
Expanding the radius of protection from available human shields, I see…
The folks at Aldi have very kindly started giving us the opportunity to take a selfie every time we check out. Monitoring is a two way process! Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
Back of our place, ‘roos just chillin’, staying out of the sun. Slightly jealous.
