to maintain and confirm their place, to not be wasted, or thrown to the side in mediocre, rushed fare, THE FURIOUS is exhilarating in that it gives so much performed at such a high level, I wish I could expect this more often, it's beautiful.
We have seen these performers explode onto the screen back when they hit the screen running, it's not a surprise that they can achieve on this level, but it is a gift, it's a fulfillment of a promise, where many wonderful on screen fighter's seldom get that kind of chance again..
I went in with high expectations, I think you should, it's Kenji Tanigaki & Kensuke Sonomura, two of the best action designers working today & since, way back. & it delivers, THE FURIOUS is designed for performers that perform on a very high level & everyone rises to the ocassion

Doin #LetterboxdFriday I´ve kind of settled with that I don't watch movies like I used to, but managed to see one here and there:
#TankTuesday makes a suprise comeback with DER TANK (2025). Lapses into student film territory at times & shows signs of a limited budget but overall I had a good time with it, has some atmosphere, lots of fog machine & plenty of the central Tiger tank.
#Cyborguary is up and running with SIXTY MILLION DOLLAR MAN! Silly Stephen Chow hijinks, the cyborg related stuff doesn't even appear until 50 minutes in.
5. Tamura Yuto: ISOLATED (Hiroyuki Tsuji) "ISOLATED triumphs past biases and preconceived notions of what constitutes good or bad, wielding reduction and generosity, honing in on action cinema as a sheer joy of purity."
4. Havoc (Gareth Evans) Tremendous robust action movie making; sculpted from genre blocks mauled by motion & texture; artifice & stylization clashing against noise & chaos.
3. Reflection in a Dead Diamond (Hélène Cattet, Bruno Forzani) Fragmented memories and/or fantasies of Bond/Eurospy formalist swagger pulp perversions.
2. Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc (Tatsuya Yoshihara) Damaged reaching out love story & total sensory overload action cinema bliss, a beautiful & intense experience, I loved this.
Favorite Action Movies of 2025: 1. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle (Haruo Sotozaki) Structured as one long multi layered action sequence with a flashback structure within action beats telling a gripping story, emotional, huge & pure in its action movie approach.
After the very disappointing installments of Who finds a friend finds a treasure & Go for it! in the Terrence Hill/Bud Spencer-verse, I’m for the Hippopotamus, was a welcome return to hanging out, sharing a meal & a smackdown with these loveable characters.
HELLZAPOPPIN (1941) feels like a rosetta stone for all strands of cinematic comedy ever since, tearing down the 4th wall with a grin, but in particular its center piece suggest the concealed lives of the servants & maids as a brimming force of life & creativity lived before scuttling back to duties.
Had never seen a Hill/Spencer movie, when I was a kid grandpa & an uncle had some VHS of theirs & I've always meant to get to em, if nothing else cross em off with my podcast. Now it finally happened and WATCH OUT, WE'RE MAD is a 5⭐ movie & probably the most Pod Hard one I've seen, like ever 😂
Jerry Lewis HARDLY WORKING a frustratingly unfunny watch, why make a comedy so stubbornly not funny? But it revealed itself, what do you do when you go from "the worlds funniest" to no one cares? Lets go out with one last clownery, let a mob strangle your insensitive earlier self

There's a possibility the credits in this are AI. Which also fits thematically, When it starts to fall apart, there seems to be no memory of what's outside the frame, a character can't remember much else than a couple of frames & so on. Watch together with Uni Sol DoR Aggro Dr1ft
I would love to see Zaror’s big brash heart on his sleeve sensitive machismo melodrama clash against the stern structure formalism of John Hyams... #ActionBlu #ActionSky
Not without faults, Zaror keeps trying to reach further than the lowest expectations, he hasn’t given up, he swings big & bold. His hulking to fit inside the screen & when lashing out the camera tries to keep up, captured in wides Zaror still reaching for the limit of the frame (cont.)
Zaror stars in LOVENSONGS & BEATDOWNS - THE MOVIE, lol. This goes pretty hard up against its limitations, falls apart midway, but by that point, & if you thought it's been too slow, there's only Zaror stretching out his frame across the screen in several dimensions left (cont.)
PRISONER OF WAR is a slog, the most boring Adkins film I've seen, unconvincing & uninteresting. A POW LARP, with neatly painted mud, going nowhere, a few sprinkles of Adkins pummeling fools, without messing up his hair, spread thin over its looong duration. Senseless & insensitive.
