Passionate. Strong opinions, loosely held (trying anyway). Waking up. Nerd. Reader. Meditator. Walker. Having a mid-life love affair with classical music. #ldnont
Book 103. I sit here speechless, having just finished the audiobook of this masterwork. It may be shelved under horror by convention, but it defies any simple categorization for me. This one will haunt. Bravo @stephengrahamjones.com. #booksky 📚
Book 102. The 7th Tchaikovsky for the year, so far. These aren’t light, breezy reads, but damn are they ever great tales if you like some heft to your stories. #booksky 📚
Book 101. @roxannekhamsi.bsky.social’s Beyond Inheritance is both eye opening and, for me as a free-will skeptic, bias confirming (although that’s not remotely the premise of this book, and Roxanne may disagree on this point). A fascinating and accessible read. #booksky 📚
Five years ago, as an experiment, I swore off alcohol for one year. I wasn’t a heavy drinker, but I noticed that any amount of alcohol lessened the pleasure I got from reading, exercise, and meditation. I stayed dry after that year and have zero regrets. Life is better without it.
Book 100. My first @clpolk.com read. Last week, someone here was asking about genre-mashups and this one deserves a special place on that list. A period, supernatural whodunnit. A short, but thoroughly enjoyable tale. #booksky 📚
Rare is the day that I don’t add a handful of blocks to the TBR list. Today’s additions courtesy of @nextbigidea.bsky.social.
Book 99. I loved @nataliezed.bsky.social’s Villain easily as much as Hench. The Auditor is such a great character. I want more. #booksky 📚
Halfway through 2026. Will hit 7,000kms tomorrow morning. Hope to cruise through the rest of the year to hit the 11,111km target. Unless I just jinxed the whole thing by typing this.
Book 98. What does this @shelbyvanpelt.bsky.social favourite have in common with @aptshadow.bsky.social's Children of Ruin? Octopus protagonists, and I'm a sucker for a good octopus book. This was a really lovely read. #booksky 📚
Books 96 & 97. This makes 6 Tchaikovskys in 2026 (reading #7 now. Funny how all the library holds come in at once). The man knows how to deliver consistently rich, engaging characters and worlds. #bookreads 📚 #amreading
Walked two feet outside the door. Sat on a bench for 5 minutes while Fella ate some catnip. And walked right back into the house … dripping with sweat.
Richard Attenborough (wearing glasses) in A Bridge Too Far as an escapee from a bombed-out psychiatric hospital.
Book 95. I needed to walk a long road to get to the point where this one would work for me. This is the best book I’ve read about finding meaning and purpose in life, by far. Could not recommend this more. #amreading #booksky 📚
Ok. I get why The Boroughs was cancelled, but how the hell did The Residence not get a renewal?
Book 94. This is one of those books will take a while to process. It’s undoubtedly a great piece of writing that hold up a mirror on past and present society. I wouldn’t classify it as horror, but that quibble aside, it’s certainly worth reading. #booksky 📚
Book 93. So ends @joeabercrombie.com’s Shattered Sea series. A thoroughly satisfying conclusion to a great series. Sadly, I’m running out of Abercrombie books to read. #booksky 📚
Those books have travelled more in the last week than I have since the start of the pandemic.
