Fahrradfahrend, singend, radiohörend, lesend, schreibend in Berlin. Neugierig. Mi piace to read and talk les langues étrangères. #birding
Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme by @robcrank68.bsky.social is #Corvidae, any of the species will do. The Alt theme is #BlueSky, any bird with a Blue Sky in the background. A late entry: this cute jay couple, allopreening. Almost not visible: beautiful skyblue on the wings of the jay!
The #BirdOfTheDay theme by @alan678.bsky.social: #SingersAndWingers Songbirds or birds with one or both wings open. Alt #RSVP birds that have any of these letters at the beginning of any part of their name. When in doubt there is always a Redstart showing off its feathers...
You know this phenomenon where you learn/read about something and suddenly it's everywhere? Yesterday I learned about putlogs from you, today I was in the documentation centre of this strange "building" in Berlin - the Nazis had megalomaniac plans for Berlin as a city, and 1/x
Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme by @robcrank68.bsky.social is #Birds&Flowers, birds with flowers. Alt theme is #NewLife, any of this year's new broods. A common redstart fledgling (from 2 weeks ago, 2nd brood I guess) is standing on a gravestone - with roses in the background, as I just realised.
Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme by @alan678.bsky.social is: #PerfectPoise Photographs where balance and posture tell a story. Alt #MomentsOfMajesty Elegant, regal or commanding poses. This heron, majestically poised on top of a high fir tree, caught the light of the setting sun with its beak.
Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme by @robcrank68.bsky.social is #ButtShotts, any bird that is showing off its rear, Alt theme is #OpenBeaks. Blackbird fledgling preening & exploring on my balcony, sibling just visible, one shot with their father, fledgling had earth on beak from exploring.
Another post for the #BirdOfTheDay alt theme #BestSideEye, birds appearing to be casting a sceptical or unimpressed glance. This wood pigeon was like - I'm preening here, what are you looking at, well, whatever!
The #BirdOfTheDay theme by @alan678.bsky.social Main: #AmongTheRipples. Alt: #BestSideEye birds appearing to be casting a sceptical/unimpressed glance This Mandarin Duck is making ripples and looks a bit skeptical to get his picture taken when his breeding plumage is not yet fully grown.
The #BirdOfTheDay theme by @alan678.bsky.social is #UpAndDown, birds looking up/down. Alt is #FunnyFaces any bird with a funny face. This stork on today's bicycle tour looked down at me & tried to display dominance. Maybe he meant "beak hidden in breast feathers" to be menacing, I found it funny!
Yes, or like this blackbird on my balcony :-) It's fascinating that a preening bird always looks up and around after every single preening motion, but when sunbathing, the birds just fall into a kind of stupor!
The #BirdOfTheDay alt theme by Alan: #Contortionist, birds getting into strange shapes - A swan testing the flexibility of its neck while preening.
The #BirdOfTheDay themes by Alan today: #Rocky, birds perched on rocks, alt #Contortionist, birds getting into strange shapes. For #Rocky, a Robin on a smooth rock, contemplating its own shadow.
Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme by Rob is #BathTime, any bird taking a bath, the Alt theme is #Finches, any of the finch species will do. These Goldfinches were taking a bath enthusiastically in a puddle.
TIL den Unterschied zwischen "Nomenklatur" und "Nomenklatura", ich fürchte, ich habe bisher beide Begriffe bedeutungsgleich im Sinne von "Nomenklatur" verwendet 😬 (Screenshots von Wikipedia)
Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #Orange, any bird with any shade of orange on it, the Alt theme is #Reflections, any bird casting a reflection. Even though we call ot Redbreast, the Robin's breast has more of an orange tone - but orange as a word for the colour only exists since about 1500.
Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme by Alan is #Cutie, cute bird captures. Alt #TheWaitingGame Patience rewarded, whether by bird or photographer. This fledgling Common Redstart soaked up the evening sun and experimented with finding the cutest look. (Note the still growing red tail-feathers!)
Alan's theme for #BirdOfTheDay is #WildMotion, Dynamic wildlife behaviour, freezing a second which is full of energy. Alt #peekaboo, birds peeking from behind anything. More an impression than a charm of goldfinches, flying off in unisono from feasting on seeds because of an approaching car.
Gerade kurz auf Kleinanzeigen geguckt, thematische Vielfalt, Stichworte sind wohl Lehrtafel, Rolltafel, Rollbild...
Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme by Rob is #Quackers, any Duck will do, the Alt theme is #Swans. Not as colourful as the male, the female Mandarin duck is nevertheless very pretty and dainty. And a young swan gliding around with one foot out of water, maybe for heat regulation?
Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme by Alan is #QuietReflection birds paused in thought. Alt theme is #SunriseSunset. Deep in thought: a female kestrel loafing on the roof, a female sparrow looking thoughtful, a jackdaw contemplating the sea and a hooded crow fledgling, puzzled about life.
Today's #BirdOfTheDay Theme by Rob is #RedBeakFeetEyes, any bird with a Red beak, Feet or Eyes Not Feathers. Blackbirds usually don't have red beaks - only when they have been at the yew tree berries, which they love! This bird even managed to get the splashing juice to tint his yellow eye ring.
For Alan's #BirdOfTheDay theme #TheArtOfSurvival: The Robin was very interested: Someone had dropped a bonbon on the snowy path. But it was a sugar-free one, no nutritional value even if it had succeeded in eating it, so I took it away & left some birdseed mix I had in my pocket, instead.
Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme by @robcrank68.bsky.social is #BestOfJune26, whatever bird capture you deem your best from the month of June. Not the best quality-wise, but the most exciting: bee-eaters, with a moment of menage-à-trois, one offering an insect but the other one being chosen to mate...
Just remembered another precarious situation for #BirdOfTheDay theme #LifelnTheBalance A heron had caught its wing feathers at an old reed stem. I waited with bated breath, thoughts racing, already thinking about whom to call, but luckily the heron freed itself after a minute & continued fishing.
