Much of the work has stemmed from a D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force created by executive order in March, which has sought to ensure increased law enforcement patrols, graffiti cleanups and prosecutions of crime.

"With all the large-scale events happening in D.C. this summer, the increased focus and support from the Task Force has allowed MPD to be focused on driving down crime in our neighborhoods while partners assist on federal properties," Bowser said in a statement.

"We appreciate the collaboration with federal partners, and we will continue working together on our shared priority of keeping DC safe and beautiful."
A White House official, speaking on the condition of anonymity to describe private interactions, characterized the White House's relationship with Bowser this term as "respectful and highly productive."
