I think it's related, I'm still not at fluent level in kazakh but i think it can also be said in kazakh in the same manner (though idk how commonly it's used). I know that шикі means unripe too and it's listed together re: (the) tomatoes are still "blue"

it's so cool how there are kazakh traditional ornaments literally everywhere. even on that random trashcan in the yard. even coca cola and mcdonald ads are pictures of traditional meals with a random coke and fries in the middle of it. I've seen at least 10 of these
