When I listen to Donald Trump or anyone from his regime try to talk about anything, the level of stupidity always makes me think of this.

DoorDash has to be stopped. This is a “delivery” of a Philly cheesesteak in Philly. This is what DoorDash says constitutes a “completed delivery” of my order, which is why they say they can’t issue me a refund. It’s outside the building on the stoop, which was subsequently stolen. Fuck DoorDash.

Socialism: The government owns most of the major industries. This is an extreme system that seems to fail.

Corporate Socialism: (our current system) The government mostly benefits wealthy corporations. Most major industries are privately owned (capitalism), but still receive massive handouts, bailouts, and other benefits at the expense of the taxpayer. It is driven by corporations’ ability to influence the laws with large amounts of money that results in legislation that favors their ability to make even larger amounts of money. In this system the wealthy become more wealthy at the expense of the lower classes. This system is essentially a Plutocracy (ruled by the wealthy).

Democratic Socialism: The government mostly benefits the citizens. most major industries are privately owned (capitalism), but they have to stand on their own without handouts from the government. The tax burden previously funneled to the wealthy corporations is used to improve the lives of citizens instead. This enables the government to help fund improvements to public services such as: Police, Firemen, Libraries, Roads and Interstates, Education, and Healthcare. The system is driven by people working together and lifting each other up. In this system the middle class thrives and poverty decreases. This system is more Democratic (ruled by the people) than our current system.

A non-exhaustive list of government programs that fall under the definition of “democratic socialism”. The list includes every piece of what is commonly called the social safety net (social security, Medicare, Medicaid).

Monday’s sessions were the latest in a string of conversations Mamdani has held with prominent city business leaders. He met last week with Blackstone Inc. President and Chief Operating Officer Jonathan Gray, and held separate sessions at City Hall recently with head executives at Bank of America Corp. and Chobani.

The meetings come as Mamdani, 34, has backed a flurry of proposals that push for higher taxes on the wealthy. That support has prompted blowback from the billionaire class and the real estate industry, which says a new levy on second homes will hurt the luxury market.

Furthermore, you say the rich “aren’t putting their money under their mattresses”. This from someone who claims *I* don’t understand how things work. This is what rich people are doing with their money in an effort to avoid taxes, just like I said in the first place. Have a stadium full of seats.

Many billionaires get paid in equity, rather than cash. With low salaries mitigating taxes, they own massive businesses or mountains of stock that don't pay large dividends but grow in value exponentially over time. These assets aren't taxed unless they are sold. It's called the “realization” principle.

In his report, “How to Tax the Ultrarich,” Galle explains:

"Taxing only at realization means that individuals who make most of their money through investments get to choose when to pay tax … One of these options is 'never.'”

Overall, more Black and Hispanic students enrolled in four-year universities in fall 2024 than in fall 2023. But in nearly all highly selective private and public colleges — the 85 that accept 25 percent or fewer applicants — Black enrollment declined or remained flat; the same was true of Hispanic enrollment at more than half of those institutions.

Public flagships, typically the most selective public universities in their state, experienced a 6 percent increase in the enrollment of Black and Hispanic first-year students. Yet at 20 of the 50 flagships, Black student enrollment fell or flatlined, and Hispanic student enrollment fell or essentially stayed the same at 16.

As selective colleges and universities have released demographic summaries for the Class of 2028 in dribs and drabs, it has become clear that researchers’ warnings that ending race-conscious admissions could harm Asian Americans without significant benefit are coming true.

Researchers foretold that dismantling affirmative action might produce insignificant enrollment gains (less than two percentage points) for Asian Americans. In this first fall after the SFFA ruling, Cornell, Harvard and Stanford Universities all saw generally no significant change in the proportion of Asian Americans enrolled, which stayed flat at Harvard and increased by one percentage point at Stanford and two percentage points at Cornell. At Duke, Princeton and Yale Universities, Asian American enrollment declined. Overall, the data was mixed and showed no clear trends. Just as the researchers predicted, eradicating affirmative action did not significantly benefit Asian Americans.

Friendly reminder that whenever you hear Trump, his regime, or Republicans say anything is gonna happen “in 2 weeks” or “soon”, they don’t have any semblance of time. They pulled this cowardly move to avoid having to vote to end Trump’s tariffs against Canada, Mexico and China last year.
