LMAO so my university sent us an email a couple weeks ago saying that non-rental mini-fridges are now banned with one of the stated reasons being to "reduce electricity consumption" ...except the move-in guide from today says that those ludicrously inefficient thermoelectric "fridges" are allowed

Dear University Housing Residents,

We want to remind you of an important update to University Housing's refrigerator policy. Beginning Fall 2026, residents will no longer be permitted to bring personal mini-refrigerators into University Housing facilities unless they have an approved accommodation through the Accessibility Resource Center.

We recognize this is a change from previous years and appreciate your flexibility as we transition to this new policy. This change supports University Housing's commitment to sustainability, resident safety, and operational efficiency. By utilizing a single approved refrigerator vendor, we can ensure all units meet current energy-efficiency standards, reduce electricity consumption, minimize waste generated during move-out, and streamline maintenance and support throughout the academic year.

Residents who would like a refrigerator in their room may rent a Micro-Fridge through our approved vendor, mymicrofridge.com. Each micro-fridge combines a refrigerator, freezer, and microwave into one compact, energy-efficient appliance designed specifically for use in residence halls.

Fridges & Microwaves

All residents (living in any of our facilities) are prohibited from bringing their own mini-fridge or stand-alone microwave for personal use. They can, however, bring a nano-fridge, an ultra-compact, thermoelectric cooler (≤ 7 liters) used to store snacks, medications, or skincare products. Nano-fridges generally measure 10”-11” tall, 7”-8” wide, and 9”-10” deep, with an interior space designed to hold approx. six standard 12 oz. cans.

Spent the last 3 days in Chicago with @jamie.tgirl.gay and @liliaroo.furwaukee.org to enjoy the city in (slightly) less wintry weather and visit @wah.blue and I'm so happy we got to do this, already looking forward to going on another trip like this in the future!

I'm a tad bit late posting this but @fursquared.com this year was a wonderful time as always and I can't wait for F2K next year! I'm so happy I got to see so many friends (some IRL for the first time) and meet some more of our amazing community too!
