My favorite part of walking to our local bagel shop is stopping to say hi to this outdoor turtle.
Physicians with lower weekly visit volume saw more messages per visit - building on our evidence that EHR and asynchronous care burden has a relatively greater impact on low-cFTE physicians.
On the patient side, similar to pre-COVID studies, we found a small number of patients send the majority of messages - 52.8% of messages were sent by just 5% of patients! Physician receipt of messages is similarly skewed: PCPs have a median of 19/week, but the top quartile averaged 53.3/week!
it is wild how good the instagram algorithm is predicting what you want to see. mine is entirely vizsla content, every day:
I've gotten really bad at posting my papers, but new study out today in JAMA co-led with Lisa Rotenstein: our multi-site evaluation of AI scribes on clinician EHR time. Anyway here's the graph you want to see jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...
buying a house in 2026: 12 minutes between scheduling tour and the house being sold to another buyer
New paper in Health Affairs on the non-linearity of technical work in clinical practice: physicians who reduce their clinical volume do reduce their EHR burden, but to a smaller degree www.healthaffairs.org/doi/full/10....
Yea we can hire professors on merit - merit of how much drip you had on PhD graduation
Lots of training to get Hobart not to eat sidewalk food but I can’t really blame him here
Obviously a strange time, but thrilled to receive my first R01 from NLM. Excited to combine some of my favorite things (instrumental variables and EHR metadata) to develop context-specific causal estimates of the value of viewing outside data delivered via HIE w/ MPI @natea.bsky.social
I got a guy who has been taking ivermectin monthly and has had a great experience, he's ready to guest lecture, headshot below
you try to have one discussion about collider bias on X, the Everything App, and suddenly you "hate white people." buddy i own multiple barbour jackets, including one for my dog. i'm the final boss of white people.
My wife is a fundraiser at Michigan and I asked and it actually is 2x per year
It is also remarkable how much Twitter has degraded. I usually use the desktop app and get this screen with no tweets and nothing working about 35% of the time or so now
New paper in JAMA IM today: how durable has the post-COVID increase in patient-initiated message volume been? Using national EHR metadata, we found messages remained elevated through 2022, with a concomitant increase in EHR time.
Nothing in this image, which this thread is about, suggests all of the humanities could be replaced by AI.
