The far-right Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party is riding high in the opinion polls in the eastern German state of Saxony-Anhalt and could win an outright majority in regional elections there in September.

The AfD says it wants to fight against "the extinction of the German people" by giving tax breaks to large families and providing free childcare.
It espouses a very conservative view of the family, which it says should consist of "a father, a mother and as many children as possible".
The party blames the low birth rate in part on what it calls "sexual deviations and non-reproductive lifestyles". It plans to ban gay pride flags in schools.
The manifesto also says it plans to withdraw funding for public broadcasting in Saxony-Anhalt.

We all too often think that Trump is "mad" and that his actions are unpredictable, bewildering, and even delusional, chaotic, and irrational. However, these labels tend to obscure what is a fairly coherent pattern of increasingly aggressive interventions aimed at indirectly weakening rivals and securing relative gains for the United States.
This is proxy geopolitics.

The idea is a reinterpretation of "proxy wars", a popular concept during the Cold War when the great powers gave military, economic, or political support to allied governments in distant conflicts (in Korea and Vietnam, for example. It was a way of harming the enemy without engaging in direct confrontation between nuclear-armed powers.

It could be said the proxy geopolitics is the guiding principle of Trump's foreign policy in situations of both peace and war. Through interventions in third countries, his basic aim is to weaken rival powers and get a head start over competitors in economic, energy, and military matters. The National Security.

Strategy of the United States of America, which was published last November, is explicit in this regard:
"We] must prevent the global, and in some cases even regional, domination of others […] This reality sometimes entails working with partners to thwart ambitions that threaten our joint interests." It's not about winning but about defeating others.
