Head of testing for CAR and Parkers.
After five years working with the wonderful team at CAR magazine and Parkers, it's time for pastures new. After a couple of months off, I'll be joining the exciting/terrifying world of the freelance motoring journalist. Wish me luck/send work! Photo: Alex Tapley
I will never forget how easily they go sideways when it's wet, and how hilariously slow the ESC reacts.
I'm driving an unfamiliar Honda this morning. Not found VTEC yet.
Finally spending a decent amount of time in the Grande Panda. There's an awful lot to like here.
I'm not generally a huge Mercedes fan, but the new GLC is very good. Shame about that grille and the comically wide sills.
No folding of seats required to get a tumble dryer in a Smart #5, just the removal of the parcel shelf.
I wasn't planning on going into Morrisons tonight, but I'm glad I did.
I can't tell you how it drives, but I can review the snot out of the boot.
My four-year old boy is currently pestering me to find him a Hot Wheels Beast of Turin. Lowkey proud right now.
A bit of sun has done wonders for my long-term Renault 4's efficiency.
My thoughts on the Lexus GS-F are now up on @carmagazine.bsky.social. I want one badly. www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-reviews/...
RCs and EVs are a match made in heaven. A fun summer awaits.
A brief go in the new Prelude revealed it's devilishly efficient when you're driving sensibly, and good fun when you're not. Shame it auto upshifts in 'manual' mode although blippy downshifts are a delight.
When Skoda makes such a big fuss of the Fabia 130's new ESC Sport mode, it'd be rude not to test it....
If you're under the impression that I'll always look for an excuse to drive something old, you'd be absolutely right. Toyota UK's mint W30 MR2 proved to be better than expected. www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-reviews/...
Want to know what the new Cupra Formentor VZ5 and Alpine A390 are like on UK roads? Head on over to the CAR magazine website to find out which is the pleasant surprise, and which is the slight disappointment.
Important consumer advice! You can fit an 1930s cinema chair in a BMW M3's boot with ease. No need to thank me.
A Mini was the first Tamiya kit I ever built and I still have it. 30 years later, it's got some company...
I really should have started writing about cars in the early 2000s... www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-reviews/...
A weekend with Honda's heritage EP3 Type R has passed way too quickly. Words coming to @carmagazine.bsky.social soon.
