Dendritic patterns of fog formed from cool air drainage down river valleys between snow-capped Taranaki and Ruapehu maunga earlier today.

Today, May 25th marks the anniversary of Takaparawhau Day, commemorating the 1978 eviction at Bastion Point. On this date in 1978, the New Zealand government sent in 800 police and military personnel to forcibly remove protesters from ancestral Ngāti Whātua land.
