"After a long-awaited summer finally arrives, I'm sitting inside with the windows closed. Why? Heat dome and wildfire smoke. Climate change is staring us right in the face, but @mark-carney.bsky.social says it’s too expensive for us to meet our emissions targets." www.thestar.com/opinion/lett...
"people without housing deserve a right to shelter that allows them to sleep and be nourished." Well said Cathy Crowe! www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...
And this isn't a new development. In Toronto, in the 1890s/early 1900s electric radial trains to weekend destinations like Long Branch or Monroe Park on Lake Ontario added trailers to carry bicycles for free (as the sign on the left indicates).
"Instead of propping it up, we should let the Cdn auto sector phase out, as Australia did with their autosector, if the impending trade talks do not grant the industry relief. We should focus on pursuing our comparative advantage in other industries" #onpoli www.theglobeandmail.com/business/com...
Check out @graphicmatt.com excellent chart showing the surge in speeding with the removal of speed cameras.

Thank you Canadian Linen & Uniform Service --- and your driver --- for NOT parking in the bike lane during deliveries! Bay Street, Toronto. #biketo
“the Attorney General’s own evidence suggests that the rally organizers are committed to holding a peaceful rally” - Superior Court Justice Robert Centa Premier Ford at it again, wasting taxpayer $ to fight inane court battles. www.thestar.com/news/gta/tho...
Hey @pierrepoilievremp: Too bad we "axed the (carbon) tax" -- instead of weaning ourselves off fossil fuels. Now we're at the mercy of combatants in the war in Iran. #onpoli
T.O. residents shouldn’t worry about the slow pace of snow clearing. After all, the city appears to have adopted a sure-fire method to clear our clogged streets. It’s called waiting for spring" - Ron Brown, Letters to Editor, today's Star
The section between Bathurst and Christie, save for the blocks that we cleared on Feb 14, is still impassable on Day 23 after the snow storm. Today's thaw is now likely to do the work.
Now arriving ... an exciting moment for Toronto! The Eglinton LRT is now on the move. #onpoli
"6.6m Cdns live in remote, rural + northern communities ... For them, the long-overdue revival of the Northlander + other passenger trains will dramatically change their lives for the better" - @taras-grescoe.com www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/arti...

"Canada will allow up to 49,000 Chinese electric vehicles into the Canadian market each year, at a 6.1 per cent tariff." Good! Nice to see @mark-carney.bsky.social not kowtowing to Ford and Trump. #onpoli www.thestar.com/news/canada/...
“ 'What is broken in their souls?' It all makes clearer than ever that Trump’s America is not just in the grip of a political and social crisis. Fundamentally it’s a moral crisis as well." www.thestar.com/opinion/star...
"A courageous leader would stand up to corporate oil and their servant, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith. It is not optional. Prime Minister Mark Carney should again read his book, “Value(s).” - Paul Kahnert #climateaction www.thestar.com/opinion/lett...
Fairview St in Burlington, ONT could have made the grade (among the worst). It's probably the kind of bike lane even Premier Ford would support. #biketo
"acc to a recent report from the Independent Electricity System Operator, wind, solar + battery storage could meet 99.5% of Ontario’s electricity needs, under all weather conditions — and at a lower cost than would be required to build nuclear reactors." Jack Gibbons, Toronto #onpoli
"Electric cars are in the news, though it’s hard to call them new. Torontonians were impressed when they first saw an electric car on city streets … in 1896." The EVs that have moved far more people, far more efficiently in TO are streetcars, buses + subways. spacing.ca/toronto/2025...
