Today Mexican diva Dolores del Rio would’ve turned 122 years old. She played Elvis’ mom in the classic western “Flaming Star” (Don Siegel, 1960). Elvis starred a couple of years later in “Fun in Acapulco” with another Mexican actress, Elsa Cardenas (“The Brave One”; “Giant”) who turns 92 today

Mexican actors Carmen Montejo and Antonio (Tony) Aguilar worked together for the first time in the Puerto Rico theater of New York in 1954. In the early 70s, according to Miss Montejo, also in New York Tony invited her to be part of the cast of the first gay themed western “Los marcados” (1971)
Hermosillo’s biggest international hit is “Dona Herlinda y su hijo” (1985), starring Guadalupe del Toro, mother of renowned filmmaker Guillermo del Toro who worked as a production manager in the film and since then recognized Hermosillo as his film mentor. Hermosillo passed away on January 13, 2020
