If you want a sense of the immensity of the street closures around the White House right now, I was staying in a hotel 0.4 miles away and walked down and around and back to the hotel today and this is my step count, having spent almost the entirety of the rest of the day on trains
I walked all the way around the White House today attempting to see it — like, see the White House — and this is about all I saw other than the dismal and very distant view you can now get from the north side since Lafayette Square is blocked to the public now too
