Born #OnThisDay in 1916, my grandmother - Marjorie Joan Scoble. This picture was taken at the house that my grandfather built after WW2, when the family moved from Devon to Cornwall.

I shall be restarting my #OnePlaceStudy next week after letting it gather dust for far too long. The first photo shows what typically comes to mind when I explain my OPS covers part of #TunbridgeWells. The second photo is the focus of my study; an area known as ‘The Lew’. #OnePlaceWednesday.

The boy is off to the Opera House tonight. Not for opera, but for a few beers with his mates and to watch the football. You have to credit JD Wetherspoons for reviving so many grand old buildings.

Introducing Erodium manescavii, which is really putting on a show this year. It’s bigger than its alpine cousins, and is thriving in the hottest, driest border. It also flowers for several months - an all-round winner. #Gardening

Yet again, mixed messages from South East Water here in Kent. This was posted by a member of their social media team earlier today (Tuesday 26 May).

Just three stems (for now) but my sweet peas have started to flower. These are Matucana, an old and highly scented variety. Here’s to many more!

See also Westbury-on-Severn in Gloucestershire; it’s a parish from where I have many ancestors. The bell tower is built of stone but the spire is made of wooden shingles, and recently refurbished. Photo from the website of Splitlath Building Conservation.

Another (somewhat reluctant) milestone in my life as a parent. The boy officially left school a couple of weeks ago, and now goes in just for exams. Tonight we attended a special evening for students, parents and teachers - to celebrate the class of ‘26. #Leopards #FloriatSodalitas
