Today is peak springtime and I really needed it. 1- I opened my door to a deer with a baby that was maybe an hour old. 2- A pair of wrens is building a nest very badly on my front porch. There are sticks everywhere. 3- A road runner was hunting for bugs in the field outside my window.

I can sometimes use the cedar index to guesstimate when it starts, otherwise I rely on what I call the “fwoomp”. It’s the two week period in Texas spring where everything goes from grey and barren to green and blooming. These pictures are five days apart.
