Mayor Mark Dion today issued the following statement in regards to the status of ICE operations in Portland:⁠

“I want to recognize our residents for quickly and loudly speaking out against the actions of ICE in our community, and for all the ways in which they banded together to support those most affected,” said Mayor Mark Dion. “I believe their collective work is what got us to this point.⁠

That being said, even if it is true that ICE will no longer be conducting a major operation here, it does not make up for the damage already done – the constitutional rights that were violated, the families torn apart, and the many questions that remain unanswered. This will continue to have lasting effects for many of our residents.⁠

The Attorney General has set up an ICE tip line for the public to send them detailed "SALUTE" information on civil rights violations we witness. citizenreporting.oag@maine.gov.

The Maine Attorney General just set up an email tip line for anyone who’s seen possible civil rights violations or excessive force during recent immigration enforcement actions. If you witnessed something, they’re asking for the basics — time, date, and location — and to mention if you have photos or video (just don’t send the files).
These reports could help with future investigations, and they’re part of the public record.
