Luncheon: posh (Mrs.N’s been to Sainsbury’s), lobster with avocado and tomatoes and Mrs.M’s sourdough Accompanied by a French orange wine which generated much discussion…the consensus is we like it!
Luncheon: thick cut hot smoked salmon with Mrs.N’s black bread and her pickled fennel, with a celeriac cucumber slaw. Excellent for a warming Saturday!
Luncheon: a platter with a tipple of Paulo Cortado. Gawthorpe’s pork pie, buttered cheese & Marmite sourdough from Lovingly Artisan Bakery, cheese, meats and pickles. With a pots of piccalilli and English mustard. After the disagreeable disappointment of last night, I’m rooting for Spain.
Luncheon: mushroom soup…with real mushrooms in miso with parsley. Then again, they’re always real but this has bits in it. Served by Mrs.N’s tear & share milk loaf. Whilst this milk loaf is very good , we prefer it using eggs (a happy mistake in an earlier bake when eggs were added)
Luncheon: Mrs.N’s made chilled Waldorf Soup…celery, apple and pecans with garlic and lemon, topped with grapes and accompanied by her homemade buttered tear & share milk loaf. Delightful on a warm and windy day!
Luncheon; smoked mackerel salad (with loads of stuff), accompanied by a lovely Cotes de Provance rosé. Taken in the Grounds (in the shade) Lovely!
Luncheon: avocado, pea and spinach chilled soup with green chillies and fresh mint, accompanied by Mrs.N’s tear and share milk loaf. Lovely for a warm day!
Luncheon: after posh luncheons of the last couple days whilst on adventures, return home. Mrs.N’s only gone and made chilled watermelon soup with croutons accompanied by her focaccia. I’m being spoilt!
For pudding I had apple crumble with what looked suspiciously like a poached egg..
Luncheon: when is a fish finger butty not a fish finger butty? When it’s fish goujons in a brioche. Nice but too posh. It should be breaded fish fingers in buttered white sliced bread.
Early morning raid on Sarah Nelson’s- shame there’s no smellovisiom says Mrs.N,
Luncheon: Mrs.N’s toasted sourdough topping with sliced chorizo and mozzarella with chopped tomatoes dressed in virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar and bits of basil.
Luncheon: Mrs.N’s cooked chilled Waldorf soup…celery, apple, pecans, garlic, olive oil and water; a squeeze of lemon and a scattering of black pepper. Accompanied by a torn piece of Mrs.N’s tearing loaf. Summer sustenance!
A lovely day catching up with folks for Mrs.N’s birthday and Father’s Day. Very impressed with my Father’s Day card created by my brilliant daughter. It’s my perfect high street (out of shot a bookshop and a restaurant with a red plaque.
Back home, tea in the Grounds (Mrs.N did lovely seared tuna with stir fried spicy noodles if you ask) and I’m telling myself that I qualify for this…Veterano. It’s rough and cheap! Marvellous!! I’ve shown this to Mrs.N before posting and her head was in her hands …twice!
Luncheon: emergency beans on toast back at base (favourite café full) beans fortified with Worcestershire sauce and a scattering of Parmesan cheese.
Morning “coffee”: in view of the weather I’ve gone down the iced tea option…an iced Earl Grey, with ice. At The Rheged, Penrith.
Much enjoying the elegance of this and my music collection as at circa 2017.
Luncheon: in Lakeland, Windermere…the cathedral of the kitchen gadget, full of stuff you never knew you needed. Anyway, chicken Caesar salad in a tea cake with a ginger bear…
Luncheon: back at the Borrowdale Gates Hotel for their magnificent roast beef sarnie. Accompanied by a little Malbec
Just having tea drinks looking towards the Lion & the Lamb above Grasmere…
