Scars are just beauty marks you've earned...
@alyssonfergison
At last I can see life has been patiently waiting for me And I know there's no guarantees, but I'm not alone There comes a time in everyone's life When all you can see are the years passing by And I have made up my mind that those days are gone
Welp, even Oura knows how out of sorts I am today. But I'm okay... I think. I seem to be more okay than I thought I'd be. For now. My morning routine has hit the road and I ain't doin' fuck all today that I don't wanna do. Which means I'm probably gonna waste the fuckin' day here. 🤣
These things are crazy! And they're tablets... not even softgels or caplets, so if that shit goes down sideways, it's gonna be a serious problem. I got another Qunol magnesium before that wasn't like this. I'm going back to that when they are gone... IF I LIVE! 😆
I was cruising right along in the 2nd bedroom... almost all the way through it when I came upon the box of stuffed animals my mom made me when I was little. She used to make me one every year for Christmas. One year it was a 6' E.T. and it was awesome. Here are a few... yes, that's Lt. Saavik.
America has proven Mencken right...
Called it quits for the day after the box full of my baby shit...
Creepy wooden box with a lock of my hair, my first lost baby tooth, and the broken candle from my 1st birthday cake. Yikes!
This is the *very* tarnished silver handle to my mom & dad's cake knife from their wedding. It was a wedding gift from my grandma's friend, Martha Bronnenberg. She was very fancy old woman who owned a tea room... very old money Anderson.
I played soccer for one year... 2nd grade. I was like, "This is a LOT of running for zero pay off and I'm out." The next year I started playing softball. That was more like it. 🤣
More cute coming your way... found some old Cole Academy recital programs from my wee dance & gymnastics days.
Found these in a storage tote that came out of my old car when I got rid of it... kind of a weird coincidence that I'd find them today, given that it's Barack Obama Appreciation Day & all.
Now, in my defense, if I gave a shit enough to try at anything, the end result was usually slightly better. This day we were throwing on the pottery wheel in freshman ceramics class... and I guess I decided to give a shit, because this one turned out alright. 🤷♀️
I was absolutely overflowing with artistic talent as a child. I was a prodigy, really. This shit must have driven my mom secretly insane, because she actually *was* a real artist. She had a BFA & everything. Me? Not so much. Elementary school art assignments...
Okay, so I found some funny stuff today. We'll start with this, which is from my 8th grade yearbook. Now, I'm sure there's a specific incident he's probably referring to here, but... I have no idea what it is. I'm sure I wasn't sorry. 🤣
I mean... do these two women look the same age to you?!? If you say yes, I'll exit my back door, cross the street, and walk right into the river. I swear to God, I'll do it. 🤣
Had to take a little break & have a good cry after this one. This was... 1986, I think. It was a vacation we took out to CA with a bunch of her friends. As usual, I was the only kid, but no one ever cared. I heard "old soul" a lot back in those days. Gotta find a spot for this in Hope...
I was obsessed with E.T. when I was little. I made my mom & my grandma take me to see it in the theater 6 times. This still has bath beads in it. I'm NOT opening it. 🤣
Here's my grandma & her best friend, Thelda Quinn, after whom my mother was later named. No date on it, but it's from sometime back in the '40s. I presume this was taken somewhere on their travels. It's actually printed as a postcard, so maybe they sent these home with updates from the road. 🤷♀️
Found it, @lanana421.bsky.social... look at those Baby Michelin Man thigh rolls! 🤣
That's my little David, on the left. I found this today when I was going through my mom's filing cabinet. This is my studio crew Christmas picture from that year. The girl in the back standing next to me is the girl on the bottom left's older sister. I hired her after Mandy modeled for me.
My mom's first car... a '66 Volkswagen Karmen Ghia. Even her car screamed, "I'M A NERD!" It was 1975, so she would have been going to Ball State then. 🤣
My mom didn't just play the saxophone... a real overachiever, that one. I definitely did not inherit that gene. 😆
My dad... I'd never seen this until today.
Never saw these before today. The back of that woman's picture says "Grandma Mikesell" in my grandma's handwriting, so I'm guessing that's her mom's mom. The second pic is my great-grandparents on my mom's side... my grandma's parents. I'm not sure why I never expected them to look happy...
My mom was a very pretty little girl... like Mickey Mouse Club pretty.
I've talked about my first car here... an '89 Beretta GT. That thing was a monster. I don't know who had it before I did, but they did something to that car. It was ungodly fast. Please don't ask me why my mother & her best friend are posing with my car like that. I have no explanation. 🤣
This was our graduation open house. We'd got into a huge fight our senior year & hadn't spoken in weeks, but this has been planned for months and didn't want to have to explain it to either of our families, especially my grandma. So we just sucked it up & did it. We're thrilled... can ya tell? 😆
More cute... coming your way! Look at my ornery little face and those fat baby thighs. 🤣 If you've always wanted to see my boobs, here's your chance... close as you're gonna get. We'll 99.9% of ya anyway. That 0.1% could get it. 😜
And here we are our junior year of high school. If memory serves, my mom had these taken as a birthday gift for my grandma. Don't I look fuckin' thrilled to be there? Fat girls don't like to have their picture taken, thank you! 🤣
Okay, okay... overwhelming cuteness alert! This is me and my best friend, Nichole, on my back porch before our first dance recital. We were quite obviously rehearsing for our big debut performance. 😆
