Our stance on Al-generated music

Hi Alyx Bedwell!

Al music generation tools are changing how music is created and distributed. As this technology evolves, Tidal is introducing platform standards to protect artists, their craft, and inform listeners.

Here are the highlights of our new Al Policy:

Tidal will identify and tag Al-generated music in our app. Listeners will see an "Al" badge next to music we detect as wholly Al-generated.

Tidal will not tolerate Al-generated music that impersonates an artist or group, or that facilitates fraudulent activity. We're implementing automatic tools to remove these releases immediately and on an ongoing basis.

Tidal will not allow music that is 100% Al-generated to be monetized. No royalties will go to such releases, nor will Al-generated uploads be eligible for direct-to-fan sales.

We will expand these policies to music that is substantially Al-generated when Al detection technology is sufficiently reliable to do so.

You'll start seeing these changes from July 15.

And I just wanna share out this post for a fundraiser that Bex will be launching soon. She is planning on taking part in a world sailing championship in Portugal and is in need of funds to get here there. At the moment there is a ban on trans women in competing in women's events at world sailing

This October, I'm taking part in the Para Inclusive Multihull World Championship. This is going to be the biggest challenge in sailing I've faced so far, in a boat that many sailors consider unfamiliar.

A multihull is any boat with more than one hull - for sailors in disability inclusive events, we sail the Challenger, a trimaran. This is nicknamed by some sailors as a 'dinghy with stabilizers', a term I've found really uncomfortable. Stabilizers are what I had on a bike when I was small - the idea of racing at an international event with stabilizers feels really infantalizing!

However, recently I've spent a lot more time sailing Challengers, which has allowed me to grow a fondness and connection with the boat. During that time I've realized that the outer hulls are not stabilizers - they are the turbochargers I use to allow myself to unlock potential as a neurodivergent sailor. They create a source of power not reliant on my faulty senses and limited knowledge of my body's position in relation to the boat. I can pay more attention to technical aspects, and enjoy the performance I get using what is essentially another source of flotation.

This discovery has inspired my entry to Worlds - where I'm not competing with stabilizers on my boat. I'm competing with hulls that make me my fly.

As mentioned in the last pod. I've been out to learn how to sail in preparation for tomorrow. Where I will photograph a regatta. And today I got taught by the fantastic Bex Foulsham in one of the multihull Challenger sailboats.

Another Wednesday, another hotpot. This time a pork joint. Something which I had been avoiding before. My parents never really put them on low and slow. And usually set the hot pot on medium in the afternoon which never makes it tender enough. So curious to see how this goes.

It's wednesday and that means it's a hotpot day. This time, some lamb shoulder which will be slow cooking for 10 hours and then it will be transferred into some pastry for some really nice lamb pie. Some of the alt text should mention some ingredients if you wanted to know what was in the stock.

The hotpot addiction continues. This time I got up at 7 am to ensure it has a ridiculously long amount of time to cook. Alongside this I sear the meat and brown it to make sure the juices don't escape the brisket. My dad suggested I try putting some red wine in too so I'm trying that out.

Starting a lamb leg hot pot for dinner tonight Had a small drama with the lamb leg as the bone wasn't letting it fit into the hotpot. So I had to cut the bone out of the meat.

How the fuck do you have a reporter free news room?

Made a lasagne. Think I did a good job on it.

Finished this Lots to talk about for this. And really does destroy a ton of arguments from transphobes on attacking trans people participating in sports. Also, the main point argued, is the desegregation of sports. And puts forward a really good case for it. A really good read.
