July is still Pride -- Disability Pride! And just as the LGBTQIA community welcomes and needs our allies to celebrate with us in June, disabled folks welcome and need our allies to celebrate with us throughout July. The parties look a little different but we can all deal with that, right?

The Disability Pride flag, a charcoal grey (but often depicted as black) solid field bisected diagonally from the top left corner to the lower right corner by five parallel stripes in red, pale gold, pale grey, light blue, and green, designed to be visually safe and inclusive. The grey field symbolizes mourning those who have died, the red stripe represents those with physical disabilities, the pale gold stripe represents neurodiversity, the white stripe represents invisible and undiagnosed disabilities, the light blue stripe represents emotional and psychiatric disabilities, and the green stripe represents sensory disabilities.

For those who are unfamiliar, this was live for about 20 hours on the Homeland Security Xitter account this spring.

A screenshot from the US Dept. of Homeland Security Twitter account which reads "The peace of a nation no longer besieged by the Third World" and features an idyllic image of a beach with a large wave rolling in and palm trees under a bright blue sky with the text "America after 100,million deportations" It is notable that there is a Community note where Twitter users contributed that the beach image was the artwork of Hiroshi Nagai and used without his permission, while the gutter racism of it went unmentioned.

The April 30 skeet from Bluesky user crookeddick is screenshot. It reads "if we're disqualifying everyone who ever had a Nazi phase, that were removed like 90% of American men from the political process. It's completely ridiculous. People change." Tumblr user lastoneout has added a variation on the Spiders Georg meme, reading "90% of men have a Nazi phase is a statistical error. Nazis Platner who comes up with a different excuse for his emotional support Nazi chest tattoo every single day is an outlier adn should not have been counted." The misspelling of and as "adn" is a critical part of the meme.

Once again the grocery order brought me the thinnest baby asparagus and I'm so pleased. It cooks in about 90 seconds and it's so vegetal and nearly sweet. In a month it'll all be as thick as Crayola markers and bitter. If you're not eating seasonal produce in the springtime you're missing out.

Three asparagus stalks, none even as thick as a pencil, clutched in my hand, wet from washing. In the background, more stalks in the sink to be washed, and washed stalks upright in a container because the best way to store asparagus is to treat it like a bouquet of flowers which in a way it is.
