@ceciliarikap.bsky.social’s new book, “The Rulers”, published by @versobooks.bsky.social, arrived this morning. I couldn’t resist: off to the cafe for a coffee and a read. I’ve been looking forward to this. #AI
@uniofnottingham.bsky.social thanks all staff for their hard work and dedication, and for their ongoing contribution to the university’s success. Whilst placing 2697 academic staff at risk of redundancy and shuttering entire disciplines. Tone deaf or just plain insulting? #UCU #UKHE
A lovely preprint by Ben Braun et al. on Ehrhart h*-distributions. #Combinatorics #LatticePolytopes #MathSky arxiv.org/abs/2607.15886
My own contribution, “Projecting Fanos in the Mirror”, joint with Ludmil Katzarkov, Victor Przyjalkowski, and Dmitrijs Sakovics. Dedicated to the master.
Another lovely surprise — the rather formidable “Prokhorov Volume” from the Taiwanese J. Math. #AlgebraicGeometry #MathSky
What a lovely surprise on my desk this morning, from @giannipetrella.eu: his PhD thesis on “Windows, Walls and Invariants of Quiver Moduli”. Thank you Gianni!
@uni-of-warwick.bsky.social I still find myself thinking, “I can’t believe I work here”. (Even when I’m here to collect my exam scripts for marking over the weekend…)
Max Kölbl (Osaka) is visiting me for three months on a JSPS Fellowship @royalsociety.org Max is an expert on Ehrhart theory for lattice polytopes, and it's a delight to have him in Warwick until February.
@nottinghamjournal.bsky.social Issue one arrived this morning. I’m looking forward to reading it; it looks beautiful.
Today I rediscovered my copy of "Strings, Gauge Fields, and the Geometry Behind", honouring the mathematical legacy of my friend Max Kreuzer who sadly left us all too soon. #AlgebraicGeometry #LatticePolytopes
My new home in the Mathematics Institute at @uni-of-warwick.bsky.social
Goodbye to my office at @uniofnottingham.bsky.social , which has been home for the past 10 years. I'll be leaving behind many fantastic colleagues and friends, although the wonderful thing about #MathResearch is we'll probably work together far more now that we're not in the same building!
Wonderful to own a physical copy of "Algebraic and Geometric #Combinatorics on #LatticePolytopes ", edited by Takayuki Hibi and Akiyoshi Tsuchiya and published by World Scientific. I received this gift from Hibi, and it was a complete surprise! Contains work of my former PhD student Daniel Cavey.
Delighted to have a copy of " #MachineLearning in #PureMathematics and #TheoreticalPhysics ", edited by Yang-Hui He and published by World Scientific. This contains my article "Machine Learning the Dimension of a Polytope", joint with Tom Coates and Johannes Hofscheier. arxiv.org/abs/2207.07717
