The F-16 Viper has become one of the most mass-produced aircraft in the modern era, with plants in countries all over the planet still producing variants to this day. It's not the newest, but it's still one of the best things flying.
In the late 60s a group of analysts and officers led by a former pilot named John Boyd worked on the downlow to create a series of specs for a jet that would be what in service pilots needed, not what speculators predicted. Then pushed. The end result was something people didn't think possible.
in 50s-60s America, it was doctrine for jets to be as fast as possible, and carry as many bombs as possible. Sounded good on paper, but the ability to dodge and defend was lost in the dogma, along with many flyers.
All good things must end. My trial for the f-16 has lapsed. If the simulation's anything to go by, you can tell this was designed at the demand of pilots who had enough of flying 1960s era death-sleds.

Having built thousands of models, I've never seen parts this detailed that weren't individually hand-cast resin. Japanese engineering tolerances are non-existent.
