Human dignity is inviolable (GG). Make the world you want to live in. There is no spare planet; progressive and reflective not mutually exclusive. Brexit disaster.
I found these socks in Müller (it is like boots or Superdrug) in Austria last week… kinda cool.
This match I would normally watch with my older son who is currently in Austria on a summer course. I am messaging him constantly and he replies.. all calm.. Younger one is with me, isn’t even watching. He only watches and plays rugby 🙄
Someone on FT comments section to the below article wrote: Musical chairs or Russian roulette? Sums it up perfectly. 🤣 giftarticle.ft.com/giftarticle/... Shabana Mahmood set to be named UK chancellor by Andy Burnham
I have copy of Meditations from which Snyder has drawn Marcus Aurelius’ quotations. I need to revisit it with new eyes.
I cleaned it properly and put it far away from us in an idyllic shaded area of the garden… The birds have collectively decided it is a tacky sculpture and not, in fact, their free spa.🥲
Is this how Labour crowns its next Prime Minister now? No leadership contest. No policies. Just a group selfie with grinning Labour MPs on his first day in Westminster as an MP.
There is something so magical about the moon, luminous like a pearl, peeking through darkest of green trees in an inky blue sky. When I was a little girl, my art teacher told me to look carefully and see if I could find the image of a mother and child etched on its surface. Even now, I still see it.
Here are a few of his favs, he plays the the first one the most. Also he said he uses Roto strings as they are the best. (All this is Greek to me, although I do understand Greek a bit better).
Forced myself to go to the gym despite feeling out of sorts, and am so glad I did. This lovely family cheered me up immensely.
Fahnbulleh’s resignation letter is notable not for its content but its construction- surgical, coordinated and designed for maximum damage. There is no alternative vision. This is destabilisation dressed as principle. /1
Am I the only one who sees no difference in his before and after pic? For just under $5000, looks like Trump’s attempt to reduce the value of dollar has worked. apple.news/APX3zTzo3QYy...
Aww bless, it still hasn’t occurred to Trump that this was never a requirement for any previous president, let alone three times over.
It looks like King Charles’ trip paid for itself and then some. Boosted Scotland–Kentucky whiskey diplomacy and managed to school Congress and Trump on their home turf. Priceless.
The Saudi finance minister said: anyone counting on quick recovery needs to recalculate. The architecture stress-test didn’t pause with the ceasefire. It intensified. And it just moved from military to financial. /15
The UAE isn’t waiting for the answer either. Abu Dhabi raised $4B privately through Goldman Sachs. Bahrain set up a $5B swap line directly with the UAE. They are building liquidity from every direction simultaneously. That is what sophisticated hedging looks like in practice. /7
But here is what is new. The UAE didn’t just ask for dollars. They said, if dollar access tightens, we may use yuan for trade settlement. That is not a policy shift. That is leverage. Deployed inside the architecture itself. /6
Lebanon–Israel ten day ceasefire agreed after Israel seized parts of Lebanon and bombed Beirut to its core. And to really capture the scale of Trump’s detachment from reality, he says ‘both sides want peace’, as if Bibi Netanyahu hasn’t spent his entire career proving otherwise.
And the following post from the Iranian President, Dr Masoud Pezeshkian is a class act of its own. Bloody marvellous, actually.
So Trump finds “Iran’s ten point proposal workable basis on which to negotiate”. This was not in the “bestseller”, Art of the Deal.
Negotiations 101 for dummies: Only threaten if you are prepared to carry it out. Bonus: And remember, you cannot make a deal with someone if you have destroyed them.
Classic chicken game with escalation of commitment. A minor tactical win is being treated as proof of dominance, prompting more escalation. Five weeks in, Iran hasn’t backed down, yet the assumption persists. The risk is that neither side blinks and catastrophe awaits.
If Trump isn’t mentally ill, or deemed mentally ill by those following his orders, what he has written is terrifying.
