Today marks 3 years since my mom passed. I feel it more this year than last; very untethered.
My great grandpa did mobile tool & knife sharpening for about 50 years, in the early 1900s, in and around Pasadena, CA.
Happy Birthday to me & MTV! It's been an okay day. I was able to have a special meal, thanks to a friend – vanilla cake w/cream cheese frosting & mudslide ice cream, maple butter salmon, grilled asparagus, heirloom tomato salad, and farro w/roasted mushrooms. 😋 I miss my boys, though.
I had a good therapy session yesterday, then a went to pick up Gnocchi's ashes. It's hard to believe such a big presence in your life can end up in such a little box. I did get to pet a cute doggo when I went in, so that was good. I don't have a container for him yet.
Several years ago, I commissioned someone on Twitter to make Gnocchi & Peanut ornaments for my mom for Christmas. I bought shadow boxes for them, but never got them set up. I think I'll add their collars now, too.
@darthbluesky.bsky.social I had to say goodbye to the goodest boy today. Gnocchi "Pokey Nose" lived a good, long life of 17½ years. Another 17½ years still wouldn't have been long enough. 🐾💔🌈

March 3, 2009. Gnocchi Pokey Nose, my first dog on my own as an adult. He just turned 17 in December and got a clean bill of health at his super senior vet checkup last month.
This is Gnocchi. He turned 17 in December. Got an A+ at his vet check last month.
Gnocchi also goes by: Pokey Nose, Buster Brown, Boogie Woogie, Super Pooper, and Snoots McToots/Snooty McTooty. With the way he sleeps in/on/around his bed, I should also call him Wrong Way Feldman! (who can tell me where that name comes from?)
He really slowed down around the holidays. I found out two of his siblings passed, one at Thanksgiving and another on Christmas Eve. RIP, Yoshi & Scarlet.
I wasn't sure he was going to make it, but Gnocchi turned 17 in December! 🎉 He just had his senior exam & lab work a couple weeks ago and everything came back looking good. He celebrated by getting a drink of water and a snack as soon as we got back, then sacked out for a big nap.
I'm really bad at checking my snail mailbox on the regular. This week, the carrier brought the contents to my door. There was a box from Chewy, in sympathy for Peanut. 🐾❤️🌈

Out of the blue today, when feeding Gnocchi, I missed Peanut something fierce and ended up crying as I washed dishes. Grief is a ride.
