So I know HC and HQN screwed up a lot in the lead up to the Heated Rivalry series release but I’m super happy they made three book bundles for the series in both e and audio available on Hoopla. I wouldn’t have had enough l borrows to enjoy the series otherwise!

I absolutely loved this wacky series. I’m glad we got all 5 books even if they had massive rebranding in the middle of it. Both sets of covers fail to capture the zany joy, mad cap action, swoony romanace and sisterly love.

#currentlyreading I’m about 5 hrs into this 17hr tome! Enjoying it so far. It has many POV characters, all people drawn to the uncanny and whose paths cross in the Isle of Wyrd, were the Arcana mingle and trade with humans for knowledge, opportunity or thrills. libro.fm/audiobooks/9...

82. The Mysterious Case of the Missing Crime Writer A Mystery by Ragnar Jónasson (cozyish mystery) Bk 2 but I jumped in with this one & enjoyed it all the way to the last chapter where I was not prepared for the cliffhanger ending of one of the storylines! Cw: abuse, stalking, murder, lies.

This is a good basic recipe. I always add sazon & sautéd onions.

Traditional Corned Beef
(Carne Bif Tradicional)
This is one of my father's favorite dishes.
2 yellow plantains
1 cup corn oil
1 tablespoon olive oil
¼ cup Basic Recaito (see page 16)
½ cup alcaparrado
1½ cups tomato sauce
¾
cup water or beef stock
2
12-ounce cans corned beef
Black pepper to taste
Peel the plantains and cut them into ½-inch slices. Heat the corn oil in a large skillet and fry until golden brown. Drain on paper towels and set aside.
Heat the olive oil in a separate skillet. Add the recaíto, alcaparrado, tomato sauce, and water or stock. Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes. Add the corned beef and black pep-per. Cook over medium to low heat for 10 minutes. Add the plantain slices and cook for 5 minutes more.
Serves 6
NOTE: You can keep the plantain warm in a low oven:
French fries, corn, or mixed vegetables can be substituted for fried plantains. For a more elegant dish, substitute 2 cups blanched broccoli florets and ¼ cup sliced almonds for the fried plantains.
