Old bag. Still, at least I can now get a ‘flu jab. Plagued by impending sense of doom and a small haughty cat called Daphne Whitethighs.
Wore a rather too short reddish jumper today and looked almost exactly like Winnie the Pooh (Disney version) although I was wearing trousers.
Slightly distracted in The Odyssey by Menelaus’ resemblance to Andrew Tate - although the latter is less believable as a character.
Clearing a cupboard, found my dad’s birthday certificate which led me to find the building the top floor of which was his first home. Feel so sorry for my granny. She was 18, married for the sake of respectability but ‘abandoned’ before dad was born. Worked so hard to keep things going including…
If anyone’s near Scarborough from 21 to 25 July inclusive, my sister’s having an exhibition of her work at the Shakespeare Gallery.
Last Avignon picture shows Joseph posing in a street with the largest number of drainage/manhole covers I have ever seen. This was possibly the single most memorable thing I saw in Avignon.
Nine years since I took Joe to Avignon and took photos of the Frenchest things I could find.
Also in honour of David Hockney, this is my niece wearing a Bigger Splash jumper that my sister knitted her.
My favourite David Hockney painting. This shows exactly how it feels to be driving down Garrowby Hill rather than exactly how it looks.
I get very strong “Nero at the Colosseum” vibes from this cage fighting escapade.
Churchyard looking marvellous after rain, sunshine and No Mow May
Saturday night quiz. Q. What do Baby Jesus and a Marks and Spencer Rosa Verde salad have in common? A. They’re both so …
My niece’s partner has a programme on radio 4 tomorrow at 7 15 about the public response to the murder of a planning officer which will be fascinating. He is a wonderful and thought-provoking writer so I really recommend giving it a listen.
I have attempted to cover up the fact that I gave the octopus 10 legs. If you half close your eyes it’s not too bad. Apparently this is a family trait as my grandmother used to draw hens with four legs.
“I’m sorry, kids, but she’s gone and there’s nowt we can do about it.”
I know this is irrelevant but, to me, Andy Burnham always looks like he’s bracing himself to tell the kids that their mum’s run off with the postman.
Lake District. Nice but truculent sheep. Reasonably attractive landscape. Someday people will write poems about this kind of thing.
