Find a copy and read this, I think you will like it. (Fittingly, I bought it at The Barbican book shop)
Oddly, I have ancestors who did live in a sod house in Nebraska! On the other side, I have a swanky New England family who had cars all the way back to 1910 and wouldn't dare live in less than a framed house😅
It has been a very nervousmaking afternoon, but the fire seems to have calmed down after they called in the aerial cavalry and dropped a metric fucktonne of retardant. The only shitty part of living up against the hills is the fires. (ok, and the poor freeway access)
Tom Tjaarda was American, though it could be argued his hand was Italian.
Proud to say I sat through my ditch today with no numbing cream. But I was a little bitch anyway, popping my knuckles on the other hand and curling my toes many, many times.
Update to yesterday's naked Fiat foundry workers! I found a later piece from 1960 where the artist did a bigger version, but gave everyone "pants."
Now, I'm no expert on foundries, and only kind-sorta an expert on Fiat history, but I suspect the men casting steel and aluminum parts a century ago were indeed wearing pants. Possibly need further research here
Legs are currently falling off, but Elise makes a good heating pad
I installed a wildflower patch this spring and it's starting to pop off. Definitely plan to expand it next year.
Laying around taking slightly tart-ish pics while listening to two women discuss church drama
Yeahhh, whoever eventually owns my house one day is completely dicked
Some people see the Virgin Mary in a piece of toast. I found a dick in a bag of Chex Mix
Here, have an Elise. Probably not the one you would prefer, but she's good for a cuddle
The strongest thing on my body is my leg-closing muscles. Absolutely no irony there whatsoever😂
Checked Marc Almond off the ol' bucket list! Still would love to see one of his christmas cathedral shows though. (Minus Jools Holland, who always seems to tag along to fondle pianos)
In 1965, Horst Baumann really went for "let's shoot Mirafiori, but bisexually" and never has anything in the history of humanity ever been so Andrea-coded
I thought I bought three Lancia magazines on Ebay for $13. Turns out I bought 14, plus a few dupes. I am a very, very happy girl
The European aftermarket cup holder can not comprehend the American cup. It's my fault though for taking fast food into an Italian car.
Good news, I got the garage guest's fiddly ignition to turn, so the Pantera saw daylight!
I have a delightful guest in the garage tonight, but pray she will start in the morning cause her ignition is extremely fiddly
